Mistaken identity led to abduction of 10 Canadian mine workers

A case of mistaken identity might have led to the abduction and loss of life of several workers at a Canadian mine last month in Sinaloa, Mexico. Mexican Public Safety Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch said four suspects detained by the army in connection with the disappearance of 10 individuals from La Concordia mine project have started talking. They are giving authorities clues as to why a cell of the Sinaloa cartel targeted miners, engineers and environmental specialists. “What they are saying is they confused them with members of a rival group. Those were their initial statements and, of course, we will have more information and more detainees,” Garcia Harfuch said Tuesday at a news conference in Mexico City.
