Misused Scripture- As a Man Thinketh...positive thinking gone wrong

Have you heard "as a man thinketh, so is he" and the whole positive thinking and positive confessions thing? Have you tried speaking things into being and been disappointed because it never seemed to work, or maybe at times it worked and then you were faced with moments of despair over not having any control regardless how many scriptures or positive thoughts you aimed at your situation?
