Mitchell Rabin Interviews Robert Hockett, AOC's Green New Deal Adviser

One of the most exciting proposals to emerge from Washington in a long time is the Green New Deal, a kind of legislation that would have been best implemented some 40 years ago when climate scientists at Exxon knew of the dangers of fossil fuels (that actually goes back to the 1950’s), and others such as NASA’s climate scientist, James Hansen, knew the danger we were facing.  He was made famous for his testimony before Congress on his findings in 1988.  The Congress, on the other hand, was made infamous for their inaction.  One of AOC’s chief advisers on the GND is today’s guest, Robert Hockett.  Robert the Cornell Law Faculty in 2004. His principal teaching, research, and writing interests lie in the fields of organizational, financial, and monetary law and economics in both their positive and normative, as well as their national and transnational, dimensions. His guiding concern in these fields is with the legal and institutional prerequisites to a just, prosperous, and sustainable economic order.  Robert has been in a flurry of national media interviews over the past several weeks but by and large, reduced to sound bites and pressed to speak of the least important aspects of it or of AOC instead of the heart and intent of the proposed legislation.  In today’s interview on A Better World Radio with Mitchell Rabin, a much more thorough examination of the Green New Deal, uninterrupted by drug and car advertisements, will be engaged.  We will look at the GND in some depth and come to understand of what it is composed and if wisely implemented, what it could mean for the future of our nation and planet.
