Mitchell Speaks of Reality & Hope, Part 2

This evening Mitchell Rabin discusses the interface of reality & hope Part 2.  We are not approaching the precipice, we are standing on top of it.  On one hand, arctic ice is melting at an exponential rate, permafrost in Siberia hasn’t been freezing and species are going extinct at a rate so rapid we can barely keep count and probably can’t.  Yes folks, it’s the Titanic all over again.  Are we just re-arranging the chairs on deck?  Are we toasting and enjoying our last sips of bubbly, or are the efforts we are making—that are being made world-wide–going to be able to sequester sufficient carbon and methane, change our consumption, lifestyle, dietary, driving, carbon-spewing habits quickly and radically enough to shift the physics (and geology), chemistry and biology so that sentient life, including human, will survive the predicament we’ve created?  What’s true?  Well, we’ll explore that too along with the importance to the human psyche of this unknown quantity but which has a brilliant quality, called hope.  Hope sometimes pulls people through disasters and stage 4 cancer.  Hope is a life-raft and to dash it is virtually synonymous with snuffing out the life-force itself.  It’s almost like having ‘two deaths’.  The death of hope and the death of the body.  Isn’t oneenough?!!   Isn’t knowing how to cultivate hope in the midst of crisis what really shows (and builds) character?  Tune in today for what will be a reality-check on one hand, and how to build hope that leads to loving and meaningful action.
