Mladic Dead: Justice for Srebrenica | Spokane News

Ratko Mladic, the notorious “Butcher of Bosnia” convicted of orchestrating the 1995 Srebrenica genocide that killed over 8,000 Muslim men and boys, has died in UN custody. His forces also terrorized Sarajevo with relentless shelling, killing 10,000 civilians — all part of a genocidal campaign to create a Greater Serbia. Despite denying every charge and shouting “This is all lies” at his 2017 sentencing, he was sentenced to life for crimes against humanity. His final appeal was rejected in 2021, and his death closes a dark chapter in the pursuit of justice for victims of Europe’s worst atrocity since WWII.
