MLB Suspends Prospect Over Fake Age | Cleveland Guardians News

MLB just suspended a Cleveland Guardians prospect after uncovering a massive age and identity fraud scheme — the player, Daury David Severino Damaso, was allegedly 16, not 13 or 14 as claimed, with forged documents including a fake birth date and school records created by his trainer in 2023. The Guardians signed him for $2.8M in 2025, expecting him to be eligible in 2029, but MLB’s probe revealed the deception. Though Cleveland cut ties in May 2026, the suspension now bars him from international signing pools until 2027 — effectively delaying his professional debut by a year.
