So we did exactly that we went live on Facebook might do Periscope next time. It's a better feat anyway We went live while having our computers and our phones refreshing them constantly. We had ESPN in the background We wanted to get as much breaking information out there as possible and and comment down in real time So we wanted to do but because of that the two of us were all over the place telling stories We're getting a little sloppy.
We're speculating a lot and it was different and I'm only doing this disclaimer because you know We're still in pretty new podcasts. So if you're listening to the podcast in the future We will rally got shit on us. Yeah, he's got nothing fucking we'll do it live We're doing it live and yeah, we're doing this because we got used to the background I should probably mute that we're covering majorly baseball's trade deadline the deadline ends in about 15 minutes from now I've got my computer up and following so all the experts on Twitter so we get the live breaking info so far a few big deals I've gone by yeah, since especially since we talked last week. Yes last week We had talked about the possibility of cuz you in chat and which we found out later that night the Cubs dig it Alright, I rolled this or rolled this I screwed that up a lot of rolled this Chapman Sorry and and that was a big trick because I kind of set the market and you brought this to my this is not my theory But it was the Theo chaos theory.
It's called Theo chaos theory and a couple people are watching I think time credit what's up to people were a time under time other lunch break perhaps to check in with us Yeah, so Theo chaos theory basically goes like this Theo Epstein Cubs president people think of him as the GM It's really yeah, he's president of baseball operation president baseball operations. He's the godfather. He's Theo Yeah, he's possession is the only baseball executive or sports executive or people are just called by his first name He's Theo nobody else goes like that magic. Well magic was magic before But the idea is he went hard after Chapman overpaid for him and got him early just to set the market into a friend They gave up their top prospect.
I get blabber Torres I don't really I really like our two and three better than I like to risk with you Yeah, I mean like happen him and as better yeah him and as an amazing catch in the future's game and he's numbers look better to me too And the same age I don't understand how one guy rated higher because a little bit defense speed I don't know that's Keith law about that Yeah, sometimes they're a little off on that though We've seen that in the past and I love that idea because to me it reminded me of people forget this with Theo first took over as Cubs President based operations. I'll propose was a free agent from the Cardinals The Cubs were bidding on pools which was which was BS. They didn't want him They only did that the price amount of the Cardinals range. That's funny.
That's smart business though if you're competing like that That's Jesus. So what the other plane checkers here. Yeah, we're playing chess motherfucker So what Theo did was I'm going to give four prospects which I'm paper everyone's gonna say well That's too much for a two month rent over a more in a prospect But the idea was you heard of the other two I have yeah, okay No, I read all the Kenny and and the other guy yeah, I read for us name I've received or she'd something they're on the Yankees. Yeah, they're Yankees now.
Do they throw 105? They do not so one second here. I gotta hit this button We're back so the idea behind the Theo chaos theory was that we have four players were on paper I remember baseball experts ever said the Cubs overpaid, you know, I guess that's the price to pay No, I think the overpaid they paid high they paid high but the idea was none of these players in the future there Team anyway, right? There's no spot.
There's no spot at short for Torres I was blocked by a 22 year old he's bought by a 22 year old and and buys a 23 year old when you think about it He's third on the depth chart. Yeah, so I really I love the idea of let's let's give up players They were not gonna use anyway, even if it looks like we're overpaying who cares because that will set a domino effect on the rest of the market They will have to other teams I have to pay big for Andrew Miller other teams left to pay big for Will Smith other teams will have to pay big for Malanson who ever Lance and yeah, that was a pirate's got and the weird thing about the pirates that was the next trade after chairman the pirates traded Their clothes are marks mark malanson for a top prospect from the nationals They got a good piece in play But now the pirates are also rumored to be going after Matt Moore from the Tampa Bay Rays and their rumored for a couple of Those Nova from the Yankees they're not really giving up. You thought it was a white flag trade, right? I at first I did but then I realized I heard people say that they did not need to win with Malanson He's a free agent at the end of the year They could get something now as opposed to giving him up for free on the market next year and not necessarily look like sellers That is not necessarily their biggest glaring weakness.
They're free out of the wild card. Yeah, I didn't think that's something I'll tell you most teams when they're three games out of the wild card aren't giving up a closer No, you know, so but the closer is something that it's such a confidence booster to a team You know the Cubs are thinking all right, you know chamens got that bag is because 105 You know a lot of teams think that the nationals fucked up by not going harder after Miller or not going harder after Chad And that they're really gonna regret it in the postseason They might pal bond is struggling. That's for sure And but you know, Malanson gives you an upgrade there But it's not what the Cubs and the Indians did we got the Indians So getting Miller and then the next thing that happened a couple days ago or was it yesterday? Yes, right?
Jonathan luke Roy starting catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers who's a coveted piece by several teams Indians Especially because they lost their catcher. Yeah Indians make the deal brewers are like okay He has ten teams on his no-trade list Cleveland is one of them what an idiot and well, yeah, you're saying what an idiot But these guys have these no it's always weird. I've got a no-trade Right, it's his right to do it if Cleveland was on his list Doesn't you know about LeBron doesn't know that Cleveland is no longer a loser Phil maybe he's a by the like that's done Cleveland has too much press this summer Maybe doesn't want Cleveland to turn into Boston or other fans becoming increasingly annoying You probably thought if I go there, they're gonna win it all and now everyone's gonna hate that city Let them ride the championship high with the cash that staff you think or I don't know our catchers like that I don't know I don't know catchers. We're like, oh, I can't wait to go catch a complicated staff I mean, they're all great, but that's hard stuff to handle yeah, but you're a catcher Don't you want the best pitcher or do you not care?
I think you care. I think you do I think AJ Ellis cares well, he has to yeah Yeah, that's always cracking up about those players who only like man. Well, he's a great fielder though He's a great though. Yeah, he would be not you would have a job if you could do one of those things right You can't suck at hitting and fielding and play majorly baseball.
It's one of the yeah, right? I mean unless you're a pitcher. Yes, but I mean, yes, you're good at pitching totally. Hey John Lester though We gotta talk about this we're skipping around too much We'll talk about the amazing Sunday night baseball game last night between the Cubs and Mariners Because that game was all time great all time great game about highs and lows I mean if you're a baseball fan you can enjoy that if you're fan of sports you can enjoy that then you know Go suck your own dick I don't know tell you quote my well Podcast my wife enjoyed that game and she did not want to watch it She was annoyed with me that it was on she saw that wild pitch.
Holy shit She's back in my wife enjoyed watching that game because she enjoyed how calm I was throughout it I will because I picked her up from the airport. I guess we're gonna talk about the game now Okay, we have to wait for more breaking news anyway to see what's going on as far as me just refresh that real quick You take me to post that's all I know all right told angels and twins are making a deal That's cash neutral. I don't care what's cash neutral. Okay, fans could give a shit about that for the most part They always cracked me up though, right?
And they're always like well, what kind of money's going back in the deal Where's the talent? Where's the talent? I see all these teams now? If not now, let's what the baseball trade deadline to me is the most exciting all sports by far of any trade That's no trades really rarely is there a trade unless the guy's a clean mental case.
Yeah football is a communist sport anyway Is that right socialism? No, you're right the NFL is ran like a socialist government communist really even yeah Team thinks they have a shot come on it's true if you're listening you're thinking what the hell are you to talk about by saying the NFL is a socialist Government basically they all have the same they all have the same salary cap right the revenue chainary for talent You know and think about this way to the givers and the takers. Yeah, basically baseball is American that way capitalist is Fox on the rich get richer the Cubs get Chapman. Well, yeah, usually the Cubs one of the witch teams though I don't like to think of us that way even though we should have American is apple pie and no middle class It's American is apple pie and getting away with crimes that because you have privilege.
Yeah, all right the game last night though Cubs Mariners was one of the most exciting games and The Cubs for some stupid reason a contract clause had to start this bum. They wanted to give him a shot Yeah, I get it and I like the idea of every now and then let's throw another spot starter in there to give the rotation He's the seventh guy to start the Cubs this year. That's amazing. That is amazing That's been a very healthy starting rotation July 31st seven guys.
Sorry guys started for the Dodgers 27 about yeah I don't know. I'm thinking it's a lot though. So it had Kershaw in every pitcher ever and they're gonna be there keeping They just did rich hill today, too, which we'll get to a second. Let me talk about the game though the Cubs were down Six nothing at the three and he got breaking news.
We breaking news everybody with the interrupt this the Rangers got Lou Croix Rangers got Lou Croix Jeremy Jeffress That's a stupid last name from the Brewers who is in return is probably Joey Gallo It's gotta be seven center on Joey Gallo. They're not giving up Gallo this year Are they because fielders out they just picked up Carl's Beltran although gallo is sucked? Yeah, there is something to say about that when you bring up a prospect too early and they look like crappy ruin their value Yeah, smart teams will look past it, but some teams look like not I think that's all they always say who went where but not for who I know that Lou Croix is the bigger name But I know well, let me know because I want to know if they got ripped off I want to know who did what that's what's what's about the trade out like to you want to think that your guys the people you like are Fleecing the other side Keith law whenever they go Whenever this is something about the podcast normally we're better about this Trying to hear Keith love Jack in the bottom Louise Ortiz you always know who they traded for Get two minutes two minutes on the clock we're still gonna find stuff out. What the fuck is this?
Rosen thaw's got nothing Rangers get Luke or ain't Jim Jeffers, but he's getting Joe Smith Joe Smith reliever from the Angels Other time right now, okay The side armor I like his stuff his name is Joe Smith boring Sounds like sounds like he's awful at baseball It's what it sounds like your name is Joe Smith you can't play baseball your name has to be gliber Torres for me to give a fuck Who are we giving up then? Someone's got to get released the Cubs right now have eight relievers. Yeah, I don't know and they just dropped Justin Grimm right now I think about this they could have got rid of the Mattis Reggie Bush. That's not either way though.
Where's the roster spot? Oh Reggie Bush is going to the bills. That's a great a foul right there for you I was reading the bottom of that knows I know it's NFL Okay, let me talk about this game and then we'll go one trades two minutes off We'll end about this it goes along if you're a regular listener of this show, you know normally we're a little more organized But it's the trade down line. We're excited to go live.
We told you we're gonna go live. We told you we're going live So this is live. This is as live as live can be so the Cubs are down six nothing into three it goes to the bullpen I'm like alright. Whatever.
It's a loss for us. It's a loss the Cubs. I chalk it up Alright, we're gonna lose two hundred Yeah, because they haven't come back from six runs down after a certain ending since like 2012 It's been a few years, right and I'm thinking alright I'm trying to call myself thinking the Cardinals already lost today the pirates already lost today It's just another day off the calendar Cardinals epic line Relax as they were chipping away and of all the pen pictures that the whole ball comes amazing of course I think it was CJ Edwards Mm-hmm Carl Edwards Junior goes by now because dad died so he wanted to honor his dad's name was amazing He pitched the fourth and fifth inning struck out five of the six batters to face dominant fashion Yeah, then it threw but the story I think before the actual conclusion of the game the walk-off bond is Travis Wood Travis Wood goes in the left He played a whole inning in left field and which he made an amazing catch that a lot of the others don't even make no ball ball ball Come on like think about this though I joke down Twitter saying that he's already a better defensive left fielder than Jorge Solaire and Cal Shorber Yes, or does it make that catch Solaire definitely doesn't so there does not make that catch Only man is better range than Solaire. Well, not these days.
Well, yeah No shit, he can't really walk but even his plane days I think it's I just Joe Manning gave Cal Shorber the opening day start in Anaheim when he could have Amazing that they Madden has he's played at least twice in left this year Travis Wood Yes, and even we'll pay just rope even got anything out in the left They're not an anybody badder so what the whole idea was they put Travis wood out in the left knowing the bullpen was pleated and depleted and The idea was alright I could keep him in left field and then when another left he comes in I could come and come back in which is bananas on its own Well, it's bananas because it's such a weird thing. I've never heard of a reliever I want to think is that is that worry your arm that yeah that okay pitch the whole inning now He's hanging out left field and I was gonna come back in and face the batter That's pretty unorthodox very unorthodox, but it worked no runs were scored It held the lead that is one of those things though that if the Cubs had lost six five we would have been like Let's say that ball go lower his head. We would have all been crying a river today about cute mad and got you're right You're right. You're right guess what it worked.
He does get a little too cute for me sometimes Joe Madden They're time He's just a mad genius him and the or such a perfect combination together with how they do baseball and how they think outside the box and I'm not gonna go to the I'm telling you that dude. I wish I could hang out with him. I don't know I heard he likes artisanal honey I heard he knows about expensive chocolate. I believe that I like craft beer that dude is very well read I bet he could give you a craft beer that you like the thing is though.
I'm not crazy about craft beer So I'm not gonna be like Joey just you know give me a Stella. He could give you like a real hoppy beer and you'd enjoy it I don't know maybe I don't think with Holly don't park my dogs barking when I'm Chilled your eyes redic there's a few I like but the problem is it's just too many different ones So I like one craft beer I go to a bar and I'll try that Brooklyn lag over the hell it is or or you know Redics rogue brewery or some crap on Sunday because JJ Redquiz on TV. I'm not Josh ready Josh ready help a 3.2 and I'll try my eyes pretty good beer And I guess what I'll go to another different bar sometime And I'm like I don't have that beer like the one time before so then they're like Oh, do you want to try one of these 12 different beer taps? I'm like no because there's a great chance one of them sucks or I know that Miller light always consistent I know how he can always go I know Stella's always good and again I said I'm an Irish pub because you're not an Irish pub they don't know a poor Guinness and it'll ruin your day It's really successful All right, the trade deadline is is now we're done we're done with the trade I find out So you find out stuff later because as long as they have like they put in a thing because remember when the Cubs famously got a legacy apart in 2004.
Yeah, it was a whole hour and a half after the deadline that was named Yeah, it was I remember being like he got such a novation I went to his first game in Chicago the same day as Maddox was going for 300 and I waved all of my combs is my roommate My combs is utilities if I could have those his tickets really get an extra ticket. I go your utilities are waived All this stuff. You owe me if I can have that ticket. It's pretty good.
It's pretty good It's pretty good trade can't blame you for that one at all right. It's making it trade deadlines. So the Rangers Wow, they got Beltron coming in a DH. He's a Hall of Famer.
Is he oh, yeah 400 Homer and 2,500 hits War is compared to other like center fielder is amazing. He's not a good center fielder anymore They got a D like 39 years old they got even does but in center and then he's put center in years He's been a corner out fielder for a long time and they're picking up lukeroi Wow So yeah, they had lukeroi and Beltron to a lap that already has that's not what they need Unless they want to be like the Orioles Zara the Orioles have made any moves the Orioles got a big I wait my way. Did they get him? Yeah, they probably have to get much but they couldn't wait my lease a solid wrote back In his four career era he just happened to will Smith go into the Giants They needs also brought it got in branding guy or any of the brain again So the Indians are the favorite in the central and they only get better with Miller the favorite probably in the AL Probably an all-b-a-all they've got an amazing starting pitch and they got good offense.
They got tear friend cone at He was a great one tigers are still in that more is he staying he stays with the race Are these people who are saying are saying it sounds like Matt Moore is saying I understand the race the race had no pressing issues in which they had He's get rid of a starter, you know I mean friend of the show Brenna McGowan lukeroi brought the Indians deal because he is desperate to get out of his club option for next year and Cleveland Was gonna exercise it anyway, he's on the Rangers. Okay. Well that that makes sense Thank you Brenna McGowan for letting us know that because I just thought he was like screw Cleveland I thought he just like now I've got these 10 teams on my trade list and there's a reason I have a few teams on Yeah, and he just he probably just assumed they were gonna add the pick up the option We were texting earlier and he actually said what? Have you been to Cleveland?
Yeah, no no thanks to Cleveland. I actually have a lot of friends who've been on this podcast I mean stock and sports I've had read butcher on several times John Flannery our friend is John Flannery I Jason law had about at four Clevelanders on this podcast almost more than next to Chicago Cleveland city That's been most represented. It's a fun time. I've been rocker hole fam.
I have I've been in that place melt that everyone talks about it's just cheese He was he was a Republican delegate from Illinois. I was I was there for that I shit my pants on the floor to convention because I couldn't believe what I was hearing But it was a good time good time Cleveland anyhow This is a little the other big pieces that were rumored to go Or Chris sale Quintana and content one of the two coveted stock starters were under control now the white sock I know most of the white Sox fans I know that I thought on Twitter badly wanted to see the socks straight fibers six people today They want you know why because the Sox fans have seen what the Cubs have done on the North side with the rebuild Yeah, we want that we want to have 10 awesome players on the age of 25 locked up for seven years We like that's what we want to do Okay, and and they know and the thing was like a lot of people say well They can't really dump everybody cuz then their tenants will go down to nothing that's already is nothing So they've already like look what else is gonna happen They might as well dump everybody and give them something to be excited about the Sox lasted this in the early 90s They had a campaign so the kids can't wait. I'll stop that My dogs just below the camera so you guys can't see her dogs work in the Alright, yeah, she's knocking around and I think the white Sox need to do the same thing again So chrysale signed through two more years after this year at a great price doesn't like the 76 throwbacks with a collar He clearly has done some things that make me think he does not want to be a white sock much longer Well, he just doesn't want to be a 76 white sock. Well, I mean, you know He was one of the first people to stick up for having Drake LaRocia in the locker room I feel like he went he went ham on Kenny Williams over that Yeah, he's he's been very vocal about things.
He wasn't apologetic about coming up the shirt Can I stick up for him? I know that we talked about last week before we actually had information Yeah, go ahead of course. So whatever you want Mike. He said that they value marketing over wins with those fucking jerseys And I got to say yeah Cut those fuckers up don't wear them if you're if you're ace your star pitcher says I don't want to wear these are uncomfortable The pirates didn't quite know but from the Yankees, but for whom we don't know The Orioles picked up a couple smaller pieces peers from the Rays and Look at this.
It's confirming the Giants get more from the race the race did trade him So they got they got Will Smith and Matt Moore and Matt Moore are both going to San Francisco man Will Smith was maybe the that's scary as it comes fan That staff just got better that was a scary staff to begin with I guess Beltran is official We already knew that for Dylan Nick I don't know who those guys are I think he's got a good good piece or two for that they were really saying that the Yanks have done so anyway, so the one theory was with Chris sale and look I'm not gonna you're sticking up from about cutting up those ugly jerseys or whatever and how he says that the team Who's more about marketing every team does the throwbacks? They're like required to do it I think in some cases it's like baseball wants them to do the throwbacks is it look I'm wearing an Expo's jersey It's for my boy on your Dawson. It's it's part of the business They need to sell stuff constantly when those guys wear like 30s like heavy flannel with a baggy pick like a lot of those guys have to be like this sucks I'm sure they do I'm sure they do and that's something that yeah I don't know it's maybe the players association needs to talk to him about that like look We could we wear these jerseys, but could they be updated? I don't need to wear polyester?
I think where he suggested they go to cotton because the jerseys are naturally polyester Okay, so they go to cotton because it's a breathable fabric and the players the first game played amazing Yeah, it never played so good and they're all the quotes were basically quotes from George But like Danny Tartable cotton who knew like all his tough like George would say in the show and then the next game Artable reference on the podcast first then the next game They played terribly because the uniforms had shrunk and they're ripping up and they couldn't move and that's why you don't do cotton because they shrink Okay, George Stein better play for a couple pairs of those jersey, right? You have some extra or wash on a different cycle. I think you know You can't blame George for that. You gotta blame the equipment manager.
Yes, which is not George I'm so George Alexander. I was combined Jason. I'm just an engineer George. Just answer make sure Joe's and I saw him on my birthday last year At the magic castle really yeah, I guess he's a member.
It's a magic. Yeah, you ever been there? No, I have a standing invite though I got the guy who played in the movie dodgeball Chris Williams is the actor's name He played the black guy in the dodgeball team and he also was crazy guys killer in an episode of Kerber enthusiasm Oh, yeah, I met him at the bar. I used to run a show at out here You know, it's a series at Fork is Is Michelle Williams sister?
Yeah, I believe that they kind of look like he was really great, too He did some close-up magic for us and we're talking about stuff like any does a little comedy here there and a good actor He sent he got it he got our emails and said here I'll send you something to get you into the county magic club So he you know sent us these emails and it's a standing offer and I just haven't gone yet It's been like I think he said anything like in November So it's almost like eight months. I'm like that's still good I paid for the picture once I went like I got it from somebody else and if you pay for a photo You have like a standing offer back so I have We should go to group so good the county magic club is placing Los Angeles everybody That's just this amazing you have to get dressed up right? Like all these amazing magicians are there just doing magic for you to tip him and stuff like that no, no, right? You have to pay for dinner exclusive the day for the expensive dinner expensive dinner and I heard the food amazing Food is really good.
Yeah, I heard everything about the place is just it's a class act It's and I have to make it hard to get to otherwise it would be like a shit show It would be Disneyland. It's not really in a convenient location if you ask me. No, it's in the middle of garbageville Hollywood Yeah, and so I can't I would I would almost walk there I would take a few blocks where I walk off because it's the go into that madness you go up to this drive It looks like a castle basically, and yeah, it's nuts. So anyway back to the trade deadline The white Sox I mean I get my trading sale would you guess that we hear anything about them today or no?
I would think there'd be some of why not trade podfrazier You know I mean yeah, they happen for one more year after this. I don't really know I think they might but still why not He's thirty years old thirty one years old now. Yeah, he's leaving right in your home runs Did he make the all-star team this year? Every team has to have an all-star.
I mean sale in someone else. But you said Prony lost I don't think I call him a home render. I don't know he's a home render because he was the returning champion You can't stand it's 220 how could he be an all-star? I know as well, but is well was not great either and there's not yeah He's not bait you're a robot would have to be it have to be 220 with 80 home runs for it to be good.
Well, but right yeah, yeah I don't know I don't I don't know your life a little bit of a phrase and you shouldn't be I like Frazier for some reason Well, I just think the whites actually traded him. They should have been looking to move a lot of players This year James Shields for I thought they were gonna have to plead this year Well, there was that rumor happened seven hours ago and was immediately shot down so the Dodgers got outfielders is that or no? They got rich Hill. I got rich Hill and ready.
Okay, two players from Oakland. Okay, so they think that Kershaw could come back Then otherwise, I don't think that you make that move well, they're playing great without Kershaw right now They're hitting finally they're hitting finally obviously the other pitching's I can improve when you lose the best picture in the game But they're pitching has been good too. Yeah, overall it's been good Burn the cow one's very happy about Joe Smith all caps Joe Smith motherfuckers I want to wrap up the talk about the white Sox down then we can move on to some other teams. Okay, they're couldn't call it losers right now Well, yeah, I mean, yeah, we're watching baseball tonight's who the winners and losers were and so far they're saying the white Sucks are among the losers.
I think I Still surprising they haven't done anything the white Sox What do you do you have no shot at making the playoffs this year? Unless you want to crazy run and everyone above you falls down see the second wild card is interesting because more teams are in it Yeah, but also there's a some teams get to so they get you know, they're delusional about it I don't think they can hop Detroit even yeah, because that's the thing everyone's oh, they're only four and a half games back Yeah, but there's seven teams on their way or six teams in the way that often Yeah, so you have to rely on all these other teams just collapsing down the stretch and you going on a crazy run It's a lot to figure out and I think they would better off Trading sale, but now I think about the Yankees who are a team that they always said famously were the Yankees We don't rebuild we reload but really they've been better off rebuilding because all those years that they were good They were homegrown homegrown exactly every team people don't want to believe this But every team that wins championships has to do it with first an awesome farm People just look at it after the fact. They'll say well about the Chicago Blackhawks and NHL they get players every year They suck for nine years and acquired all that young talent and then went on a run You know, I mean now they get players because they're near the top so you could do that But if you're some crap team and you're just trying to win a championship off signing free agents You're not gonna do that now you gotta tank you have to like yeah You have to take a little bit there because the Cardinals the red Sox and the Yankees when they were doing it right Yeah, they were going to the playoffs 10 years and row with the best payroll But they were always losing they did pay for some pitching But any pet it was local or homegrown cheater passata the whole offense was home Mariano Rivera or in a few years home ground, but like they paid for Paul Neil Bernie Williams was home grown They traded for Paul and I believe it was he signed he was on the Reds like championship teams I don't I mean he was might have traded for more sent me the way but to trade for people guess what you need prospects Yeah, they were talking about these little guys were talking earlier They're like what you expect the Orioles to try to why they're like they can't they have nobody nobody have anybody wants Right, right? So that's another thing that people forget so the rumor is or the theory is that the Yankees were making all these deals because they're Gonna make a strong push for sale But it sounds like the Sox aren't gonna move them the deadlines pass we've heard anything yet.
They're already being called losers Do they wait stops or losers the idea is maybe they wait until they're off season because then they're more likely to get some big prospect from somebody Because people think they don't trade the big prospects of the deadline right? There's also something happens. There's also something else another deadline coming up right like waivers or something out of August Okay, it's harder to get players though Yeah, because anyone could block it right and it goes from the bottom up so if you put a player on This is definitely the big one. Yeah, you're gonna be the second Chris elbows on waivers I'll never get to the team they want to get to here's why this matters the teams that are in the hunt are trying to get a Bigger leg up than they had been teams are deciding if they're waving the white flag if their buyers or sellers So a lot of things a lot of moving parts of this the year that the royals went to the world series the first time two years ago Do you remember what they did the world's Series two years ago when they went to the world series two years ago.
Yes, they made a not Johnny Quato That was last I know they made quato and sober's with a big moves last year right the year before they did absolutely nothing Nothing and the team started going on this winning spree because they were like our club house our club has confidence in the players That's the at least the mantra that they had believed themselves to be and then they lost in seven of the Giants with the guy on third I know so I should have wave them you go for it right there They've actually done that like so many different like studies on that He's out at home if the throw is I mean granted you could have chucked it into the you know over the catcher's head or something But that guy's out at home. Who was that? Hosmer? Did they do a lot of different studies on that?
Yeah, okay? I don't realize that you don't think some nerd wanted to know The throat didn't go to the catcher though did it I thought they cut it off and he stopped at third I'll have to re look into that. I don't really care to relive what the royals did two years ago I'm sorry don't name seven of the world series is a shit history history so I Was thinking about this earlier as a team because a lot of people are like oh who's gonna do this is gonna do that You almost want to be a pretty good team But have some holes because getting these extra guys almost like catapults your team You know right now the Cubs are the best record in baseball and they don't have really any holes They had bullpen holes that they've more than addressed and some people like shit like another bat. I'd like to wear that bat go Out corner outfield, but okay, so you add so who do you want?
Okay, so let me throw you an option throw me a name a name of a player that I would like to have that was available on the trade I'm not ready Josh right okay. It's come to Josh right okay lefty sure Chris Brian is not your birthday third baseman But she kind of is anyway, yeah, how do you have your buys a pass? Wait, no, I wanted to put retic and outfield. Yeah, I know that how do you have your buys a bets?
I'll say again ready plays left field followers and center. Heywards and right Brian's a third. Oh, no No, no, no, no, that's how I was gonna do what were you gonna do then? Hey, where does a deflate game defensive replacement?
Okay? I thought I thought that's through I'm asking cuz I really don't think the average man thinks I could move his overs to right If I really wanted to you can I can move biased a second if I really wanted to that's true and then you've been shayward is what you're saying Your hundred eighty four million dollar off season signing you bench despite the fact that he makes about a million dollars per batting point that he has That is true and he's also one of the best defensive players today He had that amazing slide home last night. Yeah, and he almost had a walk off And he and he has great pla off numbers granted that's a small sample size They've been challenging him with fastballs because he's proven consistently this year that he cannot hit them I know it's that what did he hit rounds out and then he fucking smashed a fastball He the home run he hit two nights ago was a fastball so they are challenging him with fastballs and he's just now Unloading on them starting to get his conference back baseball is all timing and when you're stuck in that middle thing where you're late on Fastballs and you're way out in front of breaking stuff Yeah, that is when players slop, but his swing is one of the uglier left-handed swings You'll see it may be the ugly that's not gonna swing out singing I don't understand what he's doing. He almost overlaps his two fingers like a golfer.
Yeah, I've noticed that on his grip Yeah, and that's why I think he's one of the top of stuff. Okay, and there comes our same Well, they're hitting coaches working on stuff. I don't know. It's just a big winner.
I'm gonna do that 2016 straight deadline. I want to hear this I'm sorry listeners the Cardinals are winners who did the Cardinals get or they said that they didn't give anybody up maybe yeah Pirates are losers pirates are notoriously stingy at the trade deadline that pirates in the Indians That's why it was a little bit of a surprise that they were such buyers this year and that includes lukeroi not getting it winners the Brewers Well, the Brewers probably got a lot in that hall. Yeah, the pirates pirates are in a tough spot though Because they really don't have the revenue. They've got a great ballpark with Pittsburgh is a very mid-market city, you know So they just don't have the payroll so they always have card We're gonna do four years of losing in the first round of the that would suck to be a pirates fan man But yeah, that one game that one game wild card man, especially last year they won 98 games They've had to face mad at him bum Garner Clayton Kershaw and Jake.
Yeah, yeah, right? I don't know if it was Kershaw for sure, but I think it was no was it Kershaw I know for sure as bum Garner to the Dodgers beat them in one game playoff I don't know I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I know that they know that people will be talking about Kershaw being a good playoff Picture if you'd want a one-game playoff. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that's true.
I know for be terrible. Yeah Didn't he have like one game last year that was good in one game where he didn't give up a hundred runs So I'm sorry, I love clay curse amazing, but I kind of do like the fact that for years Plapature for years, you know who the guy was that was like awesome that sucked in playoffs David Price Well, David Price of the new one the current but Barry bonds was that was like to wrap on through Yeah, he was bad in the playoffs. He does not have good playoff numbers But then 2002 rolls around and he Something changed about it. I don't know.
Yeah, something I think he started just eating right very fast. Yeah, um kale He was about kale before I was about kale. He was into cycling. He would take a spin class Yeah, he met Lance Armstrong in a spin class and then the two that was not a bad out I was trying to have a bit cycling.
I know I wasn't really I caught it after okay worth it. No, let me work it Not worth it. All right. Well, I don't know what else to talk about the trade deadline Um, do you do you scare you with the Mets as a cub span?
Is it like on fire and that's a home run hitting team when they're hot But they are behind the Marlins and the Cardinals in terms of the wild card Yeah, right now is the Dodgers and Cardinals and the Marlins are like right there in the Mets are behind them The Mets are without Harvey the rest of you. They got Steven Metz bone spur issues that staff is still amazing They're just a grons. They're on four miles an hour slower than he was last year I bet he's quietly like a middle of the pack so young candidate The promise still good I mean like what Felix is Vila's down by a couple and he's still no hit the Cubs through like whatever he did yesterday I mean, so he's not a thrower anymore. I'll wait a lot of teams know hit through the Cubs about five or six innings They come to that seven or eight games a year.
Yeah, it comes with seven or eight games this year They were there no hit through five or six. They're going to go in the seventh and eighth and ninth Yeah, I'm gonna play all nine baby. I'll play all nine. Yeah, but I swear everybody out there play You know respect 90 run through the bag.
There's a couple things I wanted to talk about aside from the trade deadline Okay, certain things annoying me and their baseball related of course and whenever I see them I'm always just yeah, we can relax. Yeah, we can relax So one of which is whenever a guy shows bunt pulls it back and it's a strike right down the middle That might be my biggest pep peeve in major league baseball I don't know what you're doing there unless you're showing it to try to get the third baseman in which they never are for that reason They're showing it because they actually want a bunch But for some reason the pitch right down the middle just wasn't good enough for them to fun And then they pull the stupid bat back and it's a strike right down the middle and I look like you asshole What were you looking for you're a pitcher? What did they teach you when when a guy square away try to throw it up so they pop it up you throw it up and in yeah I look it up and these aren't up and in square and then the guy throws it I don't know no, but you see what I'm saying I've you've seen this before when the pitcher shows bunt guy throws a fastball right down the middle the perfect pitch to Bunt and he pulls the bat back trying to get one up and in to get a ball No, I think they're just bad fucking hitters who are afraid of bunting these guys are major league players These are pitchers usually and some hitters do it too I saw have your eyes not do it a couple days ago We showed one pull back on the strike he might have been doing it just to bring the third baseman now Which I understand but it's just annoying it's an annoying visual as a fan It was fun every now and then you'll see like once a year something squares away pulls back hits a homerun every now And that but it's a fun one long time since I've seen that yeah, but that is fun. I feel like that's like a Bo Jackson move I don't know what he would be said has he ever done that he could he could have dropped one day who's fast was very fast He's still like 30 bases.
I'm pretty sure yeah He was one of the most overrated players in baseball history well, he only played like two or three seasons right four seasons with like a two 40 batting average Yeah, I look up at stats Bo Jackson was he was yasiel Puyg basically Puyg is only 25 people. I feel like people don't realize he's still only 25 years old He's also consistently his stats have gone consistently down since his first month He's kind of a spaz and I feel like that's why a lot of his teammates gonna know with him a little bit Well his head's not in the game. Yeah, you know, he'll have games where it's like my god He just threw a guy out from the warning track on a fly That was great store over see make some circus plays Yeah, and then he'll have a play where it's he takes the worst route and a pop up You've ever seen the ball He still has a plus I guess like an O P. I like a plus fielding He's like an above average fielder surprisingly.
What do you think Bo Jackson's best season was O PS wise O PS Bo Jackson? I'm gonna go ahead. Oh, Holly. Stop barking.
Holly didn't like it. I'm gonna say in 1989 It wasn't all standard 89 seven ago 89 and then I'm looking for the number 790 now his actual best was 1990. Okay, you only played 111 games though We had 28 home runs had a 342 OBP 523 slugging for an 866 866 and then the year you're thinking of 89 when he was an all-star He had 32 home runs. Okay, 105.
I've got 26 stolen bases 256 average you right, but he had a 5 O PS there So he had two seasons when she had over 800 O PS. Yeah, then in 91 We did he get the injured home that was the 90 season in the NFL And then so he came back at the end of 91 and only played only 84 bats Who's he playing for the white Sox a four bats? He had 225 three not seven for his career. He had a 784 O PS He actually had look at this in 1994.
He played 75 games 224 played appearances had a 851 OPS 13 home runs. Well, here's a 279 average 94 yeah, this right short in season. Oh, this is a good number two 79 34 507 for an 851 They're looking at Frank Thomas's 94 sets or Jeff Bagwell's believable both of them are unbelievable They're both MDPs that you're right. Yeah, that's right Thomas was back to back MVP is the big hurt Yeah, and 93 and 94 real quick though.
Here's another myth I wanted to spell major league baseball the white Sox every white Sox fan I know just assumes they would have won the World Series in 94 They didn't have the best record in the American League. They had like the fifth best record in baseball I think the expos would one I think the expos probably had the best and then the Yankees I think we're gonna expose Yankees World Series. I think everyone who was leading who was leading 94 I will get you the 94 steps right just scroll down and click on 94 on bow. You're right.
Good call We're gonna do the shortcuts. I know I'm like a real piece of trash when it comes to a baseball Ringer is 94 actually that's a weird visual him on the Angels California Angels before they Lost Angeles Let's see as a season 94 season I'm just gonna need for California. Okay, so click on League So to say division a league standing so that was purple You leave standings and leaders. All right.
This is by the way our sloppiest of the podcast This is the one I'm not gonna be proud to share with people. I'm kidding. Well, I think it was great by the way I was it and I feel like we did not have as many listeners as we should have and it's bothersome to me I stress over this should have you as no all right So the best record in baseball time to strike this is the American League now The New York Yankees were 70 and 43 for a 619 winning percentage. That's really good.
It's really good Then the next team was the White Sox 67 and 46 593 winning percentage the White Sox in the Central Vision only had a one game lead over the Indians the Indians were right behind the one game So the Indians could easily overlap the 95 Indians were like amazing. So who knows like what the 94 Indians were there? And then Baltimore Orioles are 63 and 49 only like two games behind the White Sox There's a good chance the Sox even make the playoffs at the end of that stretch. I mean, yeah, but they were going Their numbers were taking down going into the strike I remember reading a lot about this and then go to the national side expose Let's see the expose definitely had the best record.
I know that was their what was their record They were 74 and 46 49 even better than the Yankees. That's really good. Yes, then the Cincinnati Reds were 66 and 48 579 which is about with the White Sox and the Cubs would it take a little bit of braves were 68 and 46 596 But in the White Sox the Braves in 94 have they still have an amazing rotation You know the Cubs were at the deadline at the only here 49 and 64 Cubs would have come back Cubs were like on a upward trajectory. This kind of opposite of the White Sox I'm assuming so to get 25 home runs the deadline was he really?
I thought that like the trade. I can't say this at the strike deadline. I guess when I strike at my Early August my grandfather was dying of cancer. All he wanted to do was watch the Cubs play they go on strike in baseball So the only thing on TV was the OJ Simpson Grandfather died watching.
Uh-huh. That's so sad. I know All right, I'm out of the camera view no big deal. All right sources confirm from Ken Rose And all that Duffy is indeed the main piece in the race return from the Giants for Matt Moore Matt Duffy the third baseman Matt Duffy or is there a different Duffy the fact that he's saying Duffy in all caps Thirds name.
I'm assuming it's our third baseman. Otherwise, that's a real shit tweet He was all kind of think he was second in rookie the year-balding. I believe to Chris Bryan last year. Yeah, he was great Wait, what's in Brandon?
Oh Brandon Crawford was a rookie a couple years back. Yeah, Brandon So Jeremy how it's in stays with the Phillies the Phillies are kind of nice. They never gave up How nobody got Alex in nobody got Alex in the much time was wasted talking about Alex in throughout the baseball Tons of talk about how it's interesting to me about the whole Philly situation was they weren't going into this year They thought it'd be another rebuild year for him, but they're actually what they run 500 They've no shot the playoffs started hot. They were winning all those one-round games like their They're scoring differential run differential was like terrible and they were still like in first place at some point I'm still surprised.
I didn't try to peel off more pieces They didn't do anything nothing. I'm seeing absolutely nothing. They must really want to tank for like the next two seasons But getting rid of people helps you tank. Yeah, you know me get rid of halts and does yeah So why would you keep those pieces?
They're stupid. They're dumb. They're not they're dumb team And I don't know is this still a piece of dumb fan base I don't know a whole lot about the city filled off you the few people I know from there seem to be pretty cool But they're fan base seems to be a bunch of morons. They Are why would you trade Ryan Howard?
You could turn it around you 58 home runs nine years ago I think you could turn it around the fact that yeah, they should have dumped him a long time ago or that yeah Just any of those guys that they're still hanging on to like I feel like if they weren't pressured into getting ugly and Rollins They would still be starting them. Well, they we won with them This is interesting my cousin makes a good point here many email from him the Indians acquiring Andrew Miller My cousin makes the point goes while we had no prospect viewed as highly as Fraser who the Indians traded for Andrew Miller It seems a bit unfair that the ask for us familiar with schwarver and from Cleveland It's two really good prospects with no majorly experience seems to be a big gap in the ass to me We don't know if that's really what they were asking for it's like Brian Cashman or if that's just pure conjecture because like They decided a long time ago like who should be sellers did Carlos Gonzalez go anywhere today The Rockies are right behind the Mets and wild card right? A lot of this was just wild conjecture about who like the Rangers get cresale today to the Red Sox get cresale today No, no, but my point about the whole Andrew Miller for schwarver thing was that was the line from everybody saying if the Cubs Why Andrew Miller the other guy to trade schwarver cash miller schwarver the Yankees are schwarver boss Right otherwise, so that's why I thought all right, we're gonna move on to chammin because of it and then to see That's probably their early ask. I don't know what the other things are not to come back with all right I'm not gonna be schwarver.
How about Ian Happ and Albert Omorar? How about this guy in this guy? You know, I mean that's that's what's troubling. It's Andrew Miller is not the Indians closer.
He's their setup man He's their setup man. Can he close though? He's got he can't close just like Delamatances is now the Yankees closer He's a closer, but it why would you give up a bunch for Andrew Miller? So do you think they need a mistake?
No, I think that they're a better team I think that a lot of teams fucked up by not getting him the Indians needed really ever Yes, it comes one of those things I fucked up when I'm getting Miller No, because they got Chapman and then they can move Rondone to the eighth it looks I think that's great lesson. I think the Cubs are fine Okay, cool. I was just curious because a lot of people you know, they really want Andrew Miller and Well here Let me talk about this didn't I just didn't want a national league team like the Giants or the Nationals to get him That was part of the cousin after Chapman to because I would Giants and nationals want him badly and who What other teams besides the Giants and nationals are that good and that lefty heavy? That's true, you know, so like a good lefty relief like we did we did well.
Yeah, I think the Cubs had a good trade deadline We didn't get any offense, but they figure it's so weird. That's why I don't understand the Joe Smith move Sorry, I think I just got to my dogs Paul I don't understand the Joe Smith move because right now the Cubs have in their bullpen active roster Justin Graham went down the other day active roster Chapman Rondone stroke Travis Wood Mike Montgomery. Yeah, Johnathan Nathan CJ Edwards. Yeah, that's seven I think is there an eighth on this one where are Justin Grimm was the eighth they sent him down to bring up the guy for the Spots start yesterday where's Cahill gosh on the DL where's Yeah, a lot of these guys are gone.
So now that we had Joe Smith does Joe Smith then become our eighth relieved Where do they expand the rosters? September 1st, okay, so we have a month of just guess we got a month of shuffling people up and down They could have a grim stay down it's a long as first because Joanathan doesn't have options. You send him down He's gone. He also 41.
He's also 41. He said one good outing one bad outing. Yeah Yeah, I still zero though because Travis would map up his giving up you walk the guy in the give up a Montgomery wasn't good my company was good yesterday and the day before yeah He was the first bad two starts the same up bullpens people for reaction to so bad I'm always first at sample size I'm gonna risk first appearance with a three-one home or someone the Brewers But that was because he was seen as like an upgrade is it before Chapman? Yes, so there's a microscope on the bullpen before Chapman was there Yeah, there was everyone's like, okay, let's see how this guy fares and you just gotta look at the outfit in the room on Chapman We've already adjusted that well.
I'll let it this no I'll tell you this I saw what's her name on Twitter This this woman on Twitter who's a cubs fan follows the Cubs Caitlin something I forget her last me feel bad not knowing it right now But it's not up in front of me she came up with the idea of donating to a domestic violence shelter I believe in Chicago for every time Shannon has a safe kind of turning a negative no positive So they're gonna donate ten bucks. I signed up for so the comedian's talking sports Twitter page means I'm sports this podcast We'll donate ten bucks every time Chapman records a safe I'm far of donating ten bucks the one thing about that is I would encourage listeners if you can if you're listening donate ten bucks to any Domestic violence in your hometown wherever you live Every time champ makes it but then again everyone listening to cubs fan audio who listens get your shit about the cubs But it's still a good still a good cause I'm hoping well if you're if you're a man I'm always a ray is get to hit yeah, it's something like that turn positive negative you and I and our cubs text group have gone back and forth on this A lot. Yeah, I hate that. Chapman has this baggage.
I really struggle over for a couple days because I'm like look I want everyone to be happy to cubs got this great closer I know but then again, it's like alright He's got this domestic abuse accusation on him. Yeah, and I always I I kind of believe the woman in in these situations I think that that is the default setting that you should have I think it's a good default in a ham but but I read the report Just like I saw the photos there's the photos you're right there was photos I it's there's not a there's not a mark on her neck at all and I want to come out and say that shooting a gun in the garage I don't know how close the garage was it's attached. I looked that up because I thought that was an attached garage Yeah, it's bulltruck and right it's fucked up. It's a garage where he had to walk her through a yard to get to I would say that shooting a gun in the garage if the woman is afraid for her life or well-being is Psychologically damaging and it's mental abuse totally 100% agree through there I don't think that he physically harmed her so and I feel bad that I feel like I've gone to lengths to justify Becomes acquisition of Chapman.
Yeah in a way in which what's up TJ? I feel he's fan base is the worst regardless of sport. I'm reading a comment from a teacher Just a bunch of angry dumb times. Yeah, no, he's right so What back to the Chapman thing with that, you know sometimes I'm like you know talking a couple friends They're like look you just want to justify this so you're going to like I would love to justify it Yeah, why not well why not I here's like breaking news chatman girlfriend admits she lied or something I would it would be like oh thank you.
It would be right. I've talked to a lot of people I talk to a Cuban friend of ours who's like yeah, there's sometimes a cultural thing there and it is weird How I think he tried to say it was culturally like normal He kind of said like Latin like Latin players are getting targeted unfairly we we fight differently We're very loud people and things get overblown. I did not put my hands on her. He emphasized that I did shoot my gun off And that was a mistake I admit was really dumb.
I should have done that He's apologized for that since coming to the cops he then said I he kind of apologized for the whole situation You know yeah, and and yeah, and it's tough and a lot of people what I get annoyed with don't be one of these people in life at all Everyone here's my advice for you you I hate when people just slam a person without offering their solution of the problem What is the solution? What do you think do you think that we need to just one and done at one time? Someone gets accused of something like this They're gone because again, that's a legal battle the cops didn't arrest him because they didn't there was not enough evidence there There was no charges no charge no arrests she later said I was not lying But I over exaggerated things you know tempers were flaring and I was freaked out about this stuff I'm not saying and again default settings to believe the woman sure but there's been plenty of cases I saw firsthand when I was like 14 I was in a pizza place by my house and this Polish couple I'm laughing It was really funny how she fell we're arguing and she went to swing at him she went to swing he docked because it's natural human instinct She missed I think she might have been heels to she spun around like a cartoon and fell on her ass And me and my buddy were riding bikes through the alley near there I said if you're in Chicago This is by poor part of the central near Irving and we saw and we were like laughing some fell you laugh when you're getting people fall And they were yelling and Polish I know how they're talking about and a few people came out and she was pointing at him saying this And then we did her say push push and I didn't we weren't gonna get involved But we're like he definitely didn't talk sure you know I'm not saying that that like just saying that is enough where someone's gonna hear me say this and take it the wrong Where's our well? There's Joe just sticking up to you know, I'm not I'm not sticking up for this It's but it is one of those things where look you're not gonna have a team of 25 angels It doesn't exist find me a championship team that doesn't have one person that has a very questionable Past or decision-making in the mean every one of them I even you look as recent as the Cleveland Cavaliers the last team to win a professional title in sports What's that guy in there team jr.
Smith basically? Kill somebody with his car and some people like well That's a car exit no because he'd like nine tickets in his life of driving over 120 miles an hour This guy is reckless with an automobile when you're that reckless and you eventually kill somebody I'm sorry your piece of shit. Chapman does not have a history of domestic violence. Here's the first time this has happened I believe the best thing for a bad apple like this sometime is to be surrounded with 24 good guys at the Cubs I'm sorry I'm going on the conversation But if the Cubs are all this this great clubhouse full of angels like everyone says what better than for someone to learn and rehabilitate themselves Then hanging around people high character.
I don't believe one rotten apple spoils the bunch That's a jerk off saying you've heard that saying oh you want some bad kid hanging out with a bunch of good kids Because the bad kid will make all the good kids bad I believe that an adult level that exists. Well, yeah, I don't think that people are gonna be like oh that sounds cool What you did? Yeah, exactly right? I don't think Chris Bryan is gonna start popping his fiance in the face It is something though that if there was not a single you the picture for neck There is not a single smudge on her neck look perfectly like I think that was a drinking argument I think they're both drunk and she called the cops saying to make it to make them get their asses over there He's choking he's doing that again.
I feel bad even doubting her She's he caught her grabbing his phone to like look through it And then he got pissed and he left and he went to a bar and she tried to stop him And then they argued in their theater Which the door was open in her brother tackled him because apparently she got in his face and he said back up And then she tripped over a chair that was right there Which I had happened when I lost my wedding I'm gonna fight I got no fight with someone I got pushed there was a park bench on a park bench a bus bench outside of a bar called yachtsies in Chicago And I got school boy, you know when someone drops all fours and you push the person over you table top I mean people call it yeah, they happen to me and a fight one so that right there is believable It's just one of those things where I hope if the Cubs extend him I'd like to see him start like a charity for like you know like a bad women's shelter or something like that I'd like to see it if not it's two months of our lives two months of our lives and And if he helps one world series great, it's not gonna ruin the enjoyment for me and maybe it should to an extent I don't know maybe I got a question that for myself. Look at the guy through I do admit if you threw 80 I'd be like fuck this guy. I don't want to But again though, I believe I believe in second chances and this would be a second chance This isn't like in the NFL with Brandon Marshall who actually did was a great citizen by all counts now He got nine chances and I mean this he wasn't arrested wasn't charged him and his girlfriend are together they publicly made statements They've never been happier. So is our recourse as a society like no, sorry I don't know her name is Maria.
I think it's Maria. I'm racist. I'm guessing Maria, but Maria. I'm sorry Maria I don't care if you've never been happier with him.
He did this to you or so you say and now you've retracted But too bad he doesn't get to have a career now and that's the way it goes We're putting it out there right now or or what do we do he apologize for one part? But denies another part no he needs to apologize for the part that he denied even though he denies it and you later denied it happened to What are we doing? I don't I don't get it. Yeah, majorly baseball spent in him served his time the Yankee say he was a great citizen Cashman says he's been great They're probably gonna try to resign him after this.
Here's what I think that people tend to give a blanket Defense of the woman in a blanket just assumption of guilt to the man now because how many years where the woman just wasn't even allowed to Stay I know I know or legally allowed to beat your one was that rule of thumb right from that or the people just blanket believed the man So we have friends who just carte blanche like across the board are saying yes. He did it. Fuck him He's a terrible person Yes And then it's some sort of a cultural reaction to how much in the in the past the woman just wasn't believed or it wasn't been Madder she couldn't speak up out of fear or whatever and those situations probably still do exist and it's unfortunate as fuck But I think in a very public case like this that we're even talking about it We're even being able to look at the photos and we're looking at the statements There is some gray area involved in some of this shit. I Wish that the baggage didn't exist.
I want to believe that it didn't happen and all he did was shoot a gun I've already said how I think that that in itself is pretty fucking horrible. That's the state of Florida Yeah, I'm not containing what he did but again That's another thing in the state of Florida you should be arrested for shooting nine rounds in your garage for no reason I hope unless you're legally permitted to do that. You know I mean I hope he didn't physically harm her I hope he doesn't physically harm her not just because I'm a cuckerman But for her but also become because I want it's it's hard to justify rooting for somebody who you think morally is awful It is it is hard to do that. Yeah, yeah Much less we if we lined up 25 of like my best friends in life There's probably one who has done some stuff where I'd be like god damn it when you think about it's unfortunate It's a culture but in everything name think of 25 of your friends 25 your coworkers one of them has that thing You're just like fuck.
I mean if you're gonna say I'm not gonna watch this baseball team anymore because they pick this guy up What baseball team you're gonna watch? Yeah, what sport are you gonna watch? What movie are you going to watch? What music are you going to listen to?
We're gonna vote for you gonna vote for that probably Trump's got three rape accusations under his belt Hillary defended a rapist when she was a lawyer I mean, there's a lot there's you know, hey You know I mean there's everyone's got this it sucks It sucks it sucks the society we live in but I've also this is when I started really and it was at the beginning of this year Where I'm like I'm not gonna jump down the hot issue of the days throat Yeah, I remember Johnny Depp that the expectations of him with his wife and not people are saying that she's full of it and all this stuff I had to sell everything him and a man to her divorce and there was reports that Johnny Depp is a beauty story And there was people saying no, that's a lot. I don't really pay anyway though That one I was hesitant to jump down and wanted to wait But the big one to me was I was about to write a whole blog about the Cardinals the best fans in baseball because there's reports That they were on the end where did Jason Hayward? It turned out to be not turn out to be complete BS I didn't mean her and on Twitter people say they were on Twitter every day. I mean car from Cardinals fans calling him that word Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but that wasn't at the game And how do you know those are carnal fans?
How do you know that you know that you know? I'm sure there are racist Cubs fans people with the car Jones said there were racist Cubs fans. I'm just that stuff I'm betting one of you to his first six months as a cup. Yeah Chicago back when he was yeah, probably was not with us idiots who say horrible things Yeah, but my point was I was about to write a whole thing slamming carnal fans for it because there was reports that Carnal fans at the game not counting Twitter.
That's whole different right right now I know exactly you know what I'm saying. Yeah, I think if I have children my first piece of advice and do not read the comments Don't don't don't know. I mean there are people on Twitter and on YouTube where I see them engaging going back And why are you engaging these lunatics you're engaging losers on their parents basement to have shitty views stop it stop it? What's up Tom and TJ right?
I said all right in conclusion though. I was gonna write the whole thing about Heyward Heyward came out and said I didn't hear a single thing like that That's completely a lie and all and then nobody there's nobody no reports of that so free Cardinals fans So I yelled louder But my point was though I was this close to writing a lot of things and I would have been wrong I would have had egg on my face as they said it's one of those things as I guess Bill Mars like I don't know for a fact I just know that it's true. Yeah, oh, yeah, that's a funny segment he doesn't show I don't know man anything else you want to talk about you know, I Where would you rank deadline wasn't as sexy as I thought it would be where would you rank last night's game? Yeah, we didn't really finish that up last night's game was probably one of the most exciting games I think what made it really enjoyable was because I wrote it off as a loss.
Oh, yeah, it was a free game Holly Holly stop it. No, she's man that you wrote it off as a lot. Yeah, she's like have more faith in the Cubs I wrote the Cardinals already lost that day pirates already lost that day. So Holly shut up.
Sorry everybody So I was like, all right, let's get a dog. Not this way We took a gamble as we took a gamble with a spot start from somebody to give our guys an extra day Whatever it's a day off the calendar cuz our kid people are like who the fuck is this? I was I was a little like three bombs like in three innings like they had to start him because when they signed him they Guaranteed him one star six starter. Yeah, I know he did he look bad and I just wrote it off And then the fact that the bullpen cut the clothes on I'm taking a pause on it and then when they were chipping away I got a little because they got to stay to walk bases Let it HP and then hey, we're up and I'm like dude, please if you just split a gap right here You're gonna be here This is what you need do this come on and then and you start looking bad and then going into Zobras tripled in a run and then we are in the ninth inning Rizzo, oh, yeah, it can become six four.
Yeah, Contreras look like would have been ending any double play He's running out a lot right safe at the first of hustling youngster youngster. He's very athletic I like Wilson and makes it six five. Yeah, then while Addison No, it's not so well how your bias is up to bat is it bias? Yes, yes, no, no, it's man Caesar.
Well, man Caesar's up to bat the wild pitch wild pitch makes it six six It's like are you kidding me? That's so awesome. I didn't know so normally anything like that I've been like yes, I'm pumped up going nuts on that my seat But I just laid in bed watching it cuz I kind of was already was not in fact that this was a lot You're a bit like nine dude. I played baseball yesterday shoulder No, the game had like nine thirty so you were better like eight I was watching about it nine because my Apple TV.
I don't know cable So I have to watch through either Apple TV normally which is actually working really good today normally doesn't work that strong I was watching the bedroom on the Roku, okay, which is that my MLB app which actually I had to watch the ESPN app was working much better So that's why watching he's Apple TV in the streets Roku in the sheets. Oh, yeah And so yeah, I was and then hey, we're leading off with what I was hoping was a home run It was so close like a foot and a half short of the basket We get him over a third on a sec fly and then Lester comes up and you're thinking why is Lester Why the fuck is Lester up Jake Ariada is a better hitter, but then they say contact strikes out more We're less direction does make kind of Lester isn't a good hitter But he puts a good swings a lot of it is an o54 average We're gonna home run in spring training spring training. He played in the American League his entire career till last year But you watch his games. I think he actually makes a lot of good contact.
I watch several games where he doesn't He does not strike out a lot. Yeah, he doesn't and he's got six sacrifice bonds on the season just getting back it all over Totally he really is we should be better 400 now And he's Madison Bumgar and he didn't he swung away on one or two pitches so with two strikes really he's not funny Who decided that because that ever even all the dancers were looking at the infield they're holding Hayward on third Which you never see never see you never see a guy getting held on third you have first base in you have second base playing shallow You have short playing shallow fucker drops a bunch a perfect bunch great, but with two strikes two strikes That's another thing that people don't realize he swung away on the first pitch then showed bunt I believe took it back and took a strike so it was one of those things annoyed me Did someone catch the ball and then look at this they're showing a player try to On another team try to catch up on the stands when missed it and the whoever the first base Well, I didn't see it was too quick a highlight kind of like gave the fan like a little bit of a shove almost and then the fan flipped Off the guy Wow, I'll be a bigger story layer. So all right back to this I gotta wrap this up the bunt with two strikes. I think was a genius call Do you know why it's a genius call because there's one out other showing here right now?
They're showing right now so the walkoff bunch which is a perfect one But think of it this way perfect bunt perfect slide baseball theory goes you don't bump with two strikes because if you file You're out, but you know why it's genius because you want him to strike out bunting he's John Lester You rather strike out bunting than anything else there you do. Yeah, because then there's still a runner third base Right and it keeps the inning going. It's a harmless who was up next That's why either gets the bun down perfectly when the game or we or Dexter Fowler comes up next not Dexter Father who's leading off because we switch up buys on the hall I feel like bias might have been next I think I might have been the whole but it was What a deck in that the hole all told including Travis Wood playing outfield including having him come back in including pinch hitting Lesser there with that bunt Maybe the most I'll call it luck But the most brilliantly managed game I've ever seen that I can think of and maybe my favorite regular season Cubs game I've ever seen maybe it's definitely in my top three or four regular season Cubs ever seen the Cubs had a game that I was at in 2004 in which they were up big they went down and went down Are there another down big that came back they were down remember Was it a walkoff by Lou? Yeah, I was also going back to back I was there you were there too.
I was in the rooftops for that game cool That was like early in the season I think yeah, it was the atollos worth it at 200 make it eight seven so there was eight seven going in the night So so about the ninth with a home I was at that fucking game to eight to eight and then while we're still celebrating that going nuts We're still standing the first blue and always cranks it that was insane and right when he hit it I jumped seven I had a basketball I would have been dunked at that I was I was about 19 years old so I was able to touch Rem then I was younger man. I never gotten so high. It was me and my now wife and I think I think I got to boost off her shoulders I think about her shoulders and I scream cops went I like like my voice cracking I went insane so that was the best one there. I want to rest the only time I've ever been to a rooftop I've been a few overrated But you want to go to a bad game I've had fun up there But the one time I'm free food and shit I want to go to September game and they're facing the Cardinals and it's kind of an important game And I couldn't stand being up there because 95 percent people up there were just there to drink It's like drinking a part of a package deal and you don't really get to see the sightlines are terrible Was I at that game you could count it?
Yeah, you paid it ticket you watch the game I counted your part of the ambience I'll allow it. I was rolling. I'll allow it.
