In October 2018, UFC officially agreed to release former flyweight champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson from his contract in order to allow him to sign with ONE Championship. ONE Championship agreed to release former welterweight champion Ben Askren from his contract in order to sign with UFC. Both fighters had multiple fights left on their contracts, a transaction of this magnitude had never been done before in the sport of MMA. Over two years later, we discuss who won "the trade."
