In which the ponderous nature and astonishing cover of the mighty whale are carefully examined, revealing the dense, insulating blubber that serves as its tremendous skin, and the strange marks that adorn its great body; followed by a solemn portrayal of the whale’s head, recently severed and suspended alongside the ship, into which Captain Ahab peers with reverence and intensity. In which a chance meeting with a distant whale-ship bearing a fearful contagion unfolds, introducing a wild-eyed prophet whose frantic proclamations and eerie influence cast a dark shadow over the encounter, whilst tales of perilous hunts and ghostly portents mingle beneath the ever-watchful skies of the ocean.
