Modeling the Gulf - Episode 4

from The Loop, C-IMAGE Research Hosted by David Levin

A small team of researchers at the University of South Florida uses findings from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill to create a virtual version of the Gulf ecosystem inside a computer. It's a staggeringly complex goal, but if they're successful in building their model, they may be able to predict how future spills will play out before disaster strikes again. Mind Open Media's David Levin talks with C-IMAGE members Cameron Ainsworth, Jason Lenes, Michelle Masi and Brian Smith about building an Ecosystem Model of the Gulf of Mexico to describe how oil spills impact marine life.
