Throughout 1 and 2 Kings, we encounter kings who faithfully served Yahweh, while many others did evil in the sight of the Lord. When Elijah stood on Mount Carmel and asked, “How long will you waver between two opinions?” his question exposed the spiritual compromise and divided loyalty that had taken hold of Israel.Yet Elijah’s challenge still speaks powerfully to us today. We cannot serve two masters. God desires our wholehearted devotion, not a faith divided between Him and the things of this world. Just as Israel was confronted with a choice on Mount Carmel, we are faced with that same decision today.Who will we serve? It’s time to choose.
