SAfm — Former Gauteng Housing MEC Nomvula Mokonyane says there was no 1.3 billion rand allocated for the Alexandra Urban Renewal Project. She says although there was a business plan which costed the project at this amount, however no such money was set aside. Mokonyane was testifying at the hearings focusing on Alexandra township led by the Human Rights Commission and the Office of the Public Protector in Johannesburg. The project was launched by the government in 2001 with the aim of transforming the infrastructure of Alexandra. Mokonyane's testimony ties up with that of former Gauteng Premier Mbazima Shilowa who testified at the same hearings this week...
