Moment of Meditation: Back to Damascus (Galatians 1:17)

from Wrestling with Theology · host Rev. Doug Minton

''I went away into Arabia, and returned again to Damascus'' (Galatians 1:17). After Paul's time in Arabia, he went back to Damascus. The place where he had seen Jesus. The place where he had to be snuck out over the wall in a basket to protect his life (Acts 9:23-25). It takes great courage to go back to a place where they wanted to kill you. That zeal made him a great Gospel preacher. Paul went back and helped Ananias and the disciples in Damascus to build the congregation. Build it into a great center of the Church for centuries. Up until the Muslim takeover of Syria. Paul's zeal led the congregation in Damascus. It still leads congregations throughout the world today. Everywhere that St. Paul's words are read in worship. His words inspire you because they are God's Word. Given to you through the Holy Spirit. Amen.
