Moment of Meditation: Enlarged Japheth (Genesis 9:27)

May God enlarge Japheth, and let him dwell in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant.” Genesis 9:27 In the Table of Nations in the next chapter, Japheth descendants expand into the coastlands and islands of the Mediterranean Sea. While they may not be the most numerous of peoples, Japheth’s descendants take up the most territory. Most of us who are listening to these meditations descend from Japheth. They stretched around the coastland of the Mediterranean and settled most of Europe. England, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain. Most of the original peoples in those countries descended from Japheth. God truly enlarged him and his posterity. Most of world history has revolved around this part of the world. Japheth’s territory was truly enlarged by God’s great blessing.
