Moment of Meditation: Mountains Covered (Genesis 7:19-20)

Genesis 7:19-20 And the waters prevailed so mightily on the earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered. The waters prevailed above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits deep. Was there a safe place for people outside the Ark? No. “The waters prevailed above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits deep.” How tall was the water? Fifteen cubits is about 270 inches or 22.5 feet over the mountains. The waters of the Flood rose to a level of a bit over 29,050 feet above sea level. That would be fifteen cubits above the tip of Mount Everest. Nowhere was a safe place except the Ark. The Church is today’s Ark. Amen.
