Moment of Meditation: So Soon (Galatians 1:6)

''I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel (Galatians 1:6).'' This verse is one of the reasons for dating Paul's epistle to the Galatians as early into his ministry. Paul went through the province of Galatia in his first missionary journey (Acts 14). He was on the return trip to Jerusalem when he heard about the Galatians' problem. Paul left Galatia because Jews from Iconium and Antioch were stirring up trouble (Acts 14:19-20). That trouble continued after Paul left. Maybe even within weeks, the new Christians were being hassled into accepting the Jewish Law before becoming Christian. Paul couldn't believe the fickleness of their faith. They had been given Jesus, but they had quickly turned their back on Him. They had to be reprimanded for their desertion to a different Gospel. A Gospel that is no Gospel at all. More on that next time. Amen.
