Moms Don't Get Sick Days

from Special Needs Daily Hosted by LA Enright

What happens when two nonverbal autistic teenagers get sick, refuse ALL medicine…and then Mom goes down too? You break out the humidifier, the Vicks, the DayQuil, approximately 4,000 tissues, and enter survival mode. This week, I’m talking about the funny, exhausting and very real side of caregiving when everybody feels awful and there’s no one coming through the door to take the next shift. Because sometimes strength looks a lot less like “Super Mom” and a lot more like making chicken nuggets while breathing through one nostril. Come laugh with me. Just maybe don’t stand too close. I’m probably still contagious.
