In this special Mother’s Day episode of The Music in Me, I’m diving into one of the most meaningful themes in all of musical theatre—mothers and the many ways they shape our lives. From loving and supportive moms to complicated relationships, from fierce protectors to moments of loss and longing, I explore how musicals capture the beauty, messiness, and depth of motherhood in all its forms. I also take time to celebrate the joyful, playful side of being a mom and share some of my favorite musical theatre songs that honor these incredible women. Along the way, I reflect personally on the mothers and mother figures in my own life, including my mom, my sister, and my niece, who is celebrating her very first Mother’s Day this year.
