Mon - Setting the Stage for Rebellion | Numbers 16:1-7

from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 Project · host Ryan M Marks

“Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown. They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?” So when Moses heard it, he fell on his face; and he spoke to Korah and all his company, saying, “Tomorrow morning the Lord will show who is His and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to Him. That one whom He chooses He will cause to come near to Him. Do this: Take censers, Korah and all your company; put fire in them and put incense in them before the Lord tomorrow, and it shall be that the man whom the Lord chooses is the holy one. You take too much upon yourselves, you sons of Levi!”” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭16:1-7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/num.16.1-7.NKJV Observations: • Korah, Dathan, Abiram and On - ringleaders of 250 power players in the congregation. • Accusation is made that Moses and Aaron have too much authority. Emphasis on equality and entitlement to more power by these rebels • Moses responds in humility it seems, he falls on his face and submits to the Lord’s examination. • The Lord will choose who can approach him. Applications: • How we relate to authority reveals a lot about our spirituality. • We cannot assume, presume, or worship in the way we fashion, we must approach the Lord on His terms. • The Lord will exercise the vengeance. We don’t have to Closing Prayer: ““But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” Luke‬ ‭6:27-36‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ This Podcast is brought to you by FMM: Focusing on the Mark Ministries ~ keep living a Matthew 6:33 live until He comes Gen1toRev22.com
