This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest headlines from Monaco and beyond.Prince Albert II received one of the French military’s most symbolic distinctions on April the 30th, when he was named an Honorary Corporal of the French Foreign Legion during commemorations of the Battle of Camerone in Aubagne.Monaco also celebrated culture and artistic achievement at the sixth edition of the Maria Callas Monaco Gala and Awards. Held at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, the ceremony honoured leading figures from the arts while paying tribute to the legendary soprano’s historic connection to the Principality.Young voices took centre stage as the 19th session of Monaco’s Youth Economic, Social and Environmental Council wrapped up on April the 30th. Thirty-five secondary school students presented a series of proposals focused on school life, culture and youth engagement in public debate.On the international front, Monaco strengthened its ties with the United States through a new cooperation agreement signed with the America 250 Commission on May the 1st. The partnership aims to deepen collaboration in areas ranging from culture and environmental protection to education and space exploration.Prince Albert II also travelled to Saint-Honorat Island on May the 2nd to attend a religious ceremony marking the arrival of a new abbot at the historic monastery, a site closely linked to Monaco’s heritage.Former French Prime Minister Michel Barnier was in the Principality on May the 3rd for a conference organised by the Monaco Mediterranean Foundation. Speaking about Europe’s future, Barnier argued that the European Union must become more politically united if it wants to maintain influence on the global stage.Meanwhile, the eighth European Political Community summit was held in Yerevan on May the 4th, bringing together leaders and delegations from across the continent.
