We hope you've all had a blessed weekend, let's get into the news! - @Freeman Elementary School PTA and West Aurora School District 129 are teaming up in a fundraiser to replace school playground equipment. Parent Emily Adams wrote on a neighborhood message board that the effort is designed to replace a "caterpillar" play structure erected at Freeman in 1986. The structure was a memorial donated by the parents and sister of Oren Davis, 10, Freeman student who died of leukemia. The caterpillar was removed recently after rust and corrosion damage to the structure's base and head raised safety concerns. To raise funds, partners are selling pizza kits by Luigi's Pizza and Fun Center Cost is $10 for a kit with five mini pizza crusts, an extra dough ball, 2 ounce cup of 3 toppings, 4 ounce cup of cheese and 2.5 ounce cup of sauce. Orders will be distributed at a drive-through from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Luigi's parking lot, 732 Prairie St. in Aurora. Fifty percent of sales will benefit the project. In person meetings may restart in July or August. There will be spinwheel prizes, and the guest speaker for the event will be Stephen Morris, author of “The Six Strengths To Maximize Your Business Execution”.
