That is why his faith was “reckoned to him as righteousness.” But the words, “it was reckoned to him,” were written not for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be reckoned to us who believe in him that raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was put to death for our trespasses and raised for our justification. The Word of the Lord.Responsorial Psalm: Luke 1:69-70, 71-72, 73-75 (R. 68)R./ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited his people. He has raised up a horn of salvation for usin the house of his servant David,as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophetsfrom of old. That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us;to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant. The oath which he swore to our father Abraham, to grant usthat we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear,in holiness and righteousness before himall the days of our life. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”The Gospel of the Lord.Communion Antiphon.Behold the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, who hope in his merciful love, to rescue their souls from death, to keep them alive in famine.
