Moral Authority

from Victory Church Jbay · host Louis Els

But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.Luke 22:This week we will be looking at the word that Ps Louis shared on Sunday titled ‘Moral Authority’.Authority is the power and right to give orders. Morality is the ability to discern between good and evil.Unfortunately, many of us have a warped view of authority. This comes from many things in our history and our culture today. Things like colonization and corruption cause distrust for authority in us. This leads us to rebel, even against God, because we can’t trust Him as an authority figure in our lives. However, if we want to live with authority, we need to first submit ourselves to Him.In order to grow in morality, we need to be in the Word of God. The Bible is where we find our source of morality. By reading it, we grow in our knowledge and understanding and ability to apply kingdom principles.Ultimately, we need to choose to become a disciple. There is a big difference between trying to make disciples and choosing to become one ourselves. If we would humble ourselves and seek God fervently in prayer and His Word, we will be able to live with a powerful moral authority. What areas of your life do you need to submit or resubmit to God?How can you model God’s pure authority to those you lead?Do your morals come from culture, your opinions or from the Word of God?
