More Than Fair

Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5:38-42 challenged his hearers to respond to circumstances in counter-cultural and counter-intuitive ways. He taught His hearers to not just default to what was permissible by law, but rather to seek righteousness in every circumstance. But these teachings were shocking, why would you 'turn the other cheek', 'offer your cloak' or go two miles when you were only required to go one?
