More Than Soccer: Coach Marco Chacon on Coaching, Academics & Building Better Men

Talent can open doors, but it won’t carry you alone. In this episode of the Woodburn Podcast, I sit down with Coach Marco Chacon — Woodburn native, youth soccer coach, creator of Coaching with Marco, and the new head boys soccer coach at Gervais High School. We talk about Marco’s journey into coaching, why academics have become such a big part of his message to young athletes, coaching his own son, dealing with rejection, and why a great coach can become much more than someone who teaches a sport. Marco also shares how his own experience as a student shaped the coach he is today and why sometimes the biggest win has nothing to do with the scoreboard. More Than Soccer — it’s about helping young people become better students, better men, and better prepared for life.
