More Than What We Look Like

from Tiny Mic Micro News Hosted by Lindsay Carter

Who’s been objectified based on what you look like? Who’s looked in the mirror and felt disgusted or angry at what you see? Who’s been told what they should do or wear or be like to be more appealing? Who’s struggled to meet an ideal in order to feel like you’re enough? If you are female or femme identifying you can likely answer yes to one, if not all, of these questions. A woman’s value is not in her youth and beauty- Something we must remind ourselves and each other of in a society that continues to teach us that we are only valuable if we meet the patriarchal ideal of “beauty”. Our bodies have gotten us through every bad thing that’s ever happened to us. Our bodies can bring life into this world. Our bodies heal when they’re sick or broken. Our bodies shield others from harm. We have character and creativity and wisdom and I want to acknowledge that in each of you 👏every👏day. We are dynamic and we are dynamite. Let’s look to really see each other this Pride! @tiny.mic.micro.news
