Conflict and displacement in Ituri province are complicating containment efforts as the virus spreads to neighboring provinces.NASA's Perseverance Rover Hits a Marathon Milestone on MarsNASA's Perseverance rover has driven the equivalent of a full marathon, 26.2 miles, since landing on Mars more than five years ago, reaching the milestone on the mission's 1,890th Martian day. That pace blows past the previous record holder, the Opportunity rover, which took more than eleven years to cover the same distance. NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter caught the rover as a tiny green speck on the Martian surface just before it crossed the finish line, a small but symbolic reminder of how far robotic exploration has come._Before we move on, here's one to hold onto._When 8-month-old Nova stopped breathing inside a small post office in Clifton, Arizona, postal clerk and former nurse Mary Schwarz didn't hesitate. Nova took a breath about halfway through the drive, and she's now recovering in a Tucson hospital. It's a reminder that emergency training and everyday courage can turn up in the most ordinary places — a post office counter on a Tuesday morning. Researchers at institutions including the Institute for Advanced Study and France's École normale supérieure will get hands-on support and training on applying the models to complex research tasks, and each can invite four collaborators from their institution.
