The promise of Ezekiel 34 is that God will set over us “one shepherd” who will feed and nurture us with the spirit of Christ. In Ezekiel’s day, the priest class was largely corrupted and very abusive toward the people. Ezekiel’s words give comfort to the struggling masses of God’s people who are scattered as without a shepherd, that help is on the way.
