Market Update - Thursday Morning Insights Good morning everyone, Welcome to this Thursday morning update. We are seeing a notable downturn in stock index futures today, led primarily by a sharp decline in Meta. After a relatively calm Wednesday for the US markets, today presents a different picture. Meanwhile, significant downturns have also occurred in the Canadian market, notably among major entities such as the railroads, Royal Bank, and Rogers, all of which have moved markedly lower. In my analysis, the rally we've observed this week seems largely driven by short covering and a pivot towards more defensive stocks, moving away from high-flying tech stocks to options like Coca-Cola, which outperformed on the Dow yesterday—a rare occurrence. Currently, Dow futures are down by over 200 points. While the opening market movements are noteworthy, our primary interest remains on how the market closes, which is always more telling.
