Michael Thorne Jarrett   Today's Readings: Psalm 144Jeremiah 4Ephesians 2:11-3:21 Confession The confession is said privately. The audio file begins after confession. Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. In his hand are the caverns of the earth,* and the heights of the hills are his also. The sea is his, for he made it,* and his hands have molded the dry land.   O come, let us worship and bow down,* and kneel before the Lord our Maker. For he is our God,* and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice,* do not harden your heart as in the rebellion.   O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;* let the whole earth stand in awe of him. For he comes, for he comes to judge the earth* and with righteousness to judge the world and the peoples in his faithfulness.   Psalter The appointed Psalm is read together Psalm 144 1  Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for war, * and my fingers for battle; 2  my mercy and my refuge, * my stronghold and my deliverer, 2  my defender in whom I trust, * who subdues peoples under me. 3  O LORD, what is man that you regard him, * or the son of man that you are mindful of him? 4  Man is like a breath; * his days are like a fleeting shadow. 5  Bow your heavens, O LORD, and come down; * touch the mountains so that they smoke. 6  Flash forth lightning and scatter them; * shoot out your arrows and rout them. 7  Stretch out your hand from on high; rescue me, and deliver me from the great waters, * from the hand of the sons of the stranger, 8  whose mouths are full of lies; * whose right hands are deceitful. 9  I will sing a new song to you, O God; * on a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to you, 10  the one who gives victory to kings, * who delivers his servant David from the deadly sword. 11  Rescue me, and deliver me * from the hand of the sons of the stranger, 11  whose mouths are full of lies * whose right hands are deceitful. 12  May our sons in their youth be like well-nurtured plants *
