Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The sea is his, for he made it,* and his hands have molded the dry land.   O come, let us worship and bow down,* and kneel before the Lord our Maker. Today, if you hear his voice,* do not harden your heart as in the rebellion.   O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;* let the whole earth stand in awe of him. For he comes, for he comes to judge the earth* and with righteousness to judge the world and the peoples in his faithfulness.   Psalter The appointed Psalm is read together Psalm 30 1  I will extol you, O LORD, for you have lifted me up, * and have not let my enemies rejoice over me. 2  O LORD my God, I cried out to you for help, * and you have healed me. 3  O LORD, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; * you restored me to life, that I should not go down to the pit. 4  Sing praise to the LORD, O you his saints, * and give thanks to his holy name. 5  For wrath is in his indignation; * but life is in his favor. 5  Weeping may remain for the night, * but joy comes in the morning. 6  As for me, I said in my prosperity, * “I shall never be moved.” 7  By your favor, O LORD, you made my mountain stand strong; * but when you hid your face, I was filled with fear. 8  To you, O LORD, I cried out; * to the Lord I made my supplication: 9  “What profit is there in my destruction, if I go down to the pit? * Will the dust praise you?
