Michael Thorne Jarrett   Today's Readings: Psalm 7Jeremiah 37Acts 28 Confession The confession is said privately. The audio file begins after confession. Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving* and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.   For the Lord is a great God,* and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the caverns of the earth,* and the heights of the hills are his also. The sea is his, for he made it,* and his hands have molded the dry land.   O come, let us worship and bow down,* and kneel before the Lord our Maker. For he is our God,* and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice,* do not harden your heart as in the rebellion.   O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;* let the whole earth stand in awe of him. For he comes, for he comes to judge the earth* and with righteousness to judge the world and the peoples in his faithfulness.   Psalter The appointed Psalm is read together Psalm 7 1  O LORD my God, in you I have trusted; * save and deliver me from all my pursuers; 2  lest like a lion they tear my soul apart, * and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue. 3  O LORD my God, if I have done this: * if there is unrighteousness in my hands, 4  if I have repaid the ones who repaid me with evil, * may I then perish empty because of my enemies. 5  Then let my enemy pursue my soul and overtake me, * let him trample my life to the ground, and lay my glory in the dust. 6  Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies; * awake for me; for you have appointed a judgment. 7  Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered around you; * and for their sakes return on high. 8  The LORD shall judge the peoples; * judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me. 9  Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end * and may you make the righteous secure – O righteous God, who searches hearts and minds. 10  My help is righteousness, coming from God; * he is the savior of the upright in heart. 11  God is a righteous judge, strong and patient, * not inflicting vengeance every day. 12  If you do not repent, God will sharpen his sword; * he bends his bow and makes it ready.
