Mornings with Corvids
from Sabrina Dzugalo
Originally written in 2018, and performed here as part of my downtempo intro set at Common in Nanaimo on April 25, 2026. At first, this piece was a reflection on the early morning crows in Burnaby. Now, on northern Vancouver Island, my mornings are shared with ravens, eagles, and the wetlands that sustain them. So this version is dedicated to Simms Creek in Campbell River, the last remaining wild salmon habitat in the region, and a place of deep ecological importance for the health of the local ecosystem and future generations. Simms Creek is currently under threat from proposed development by WestUrban Developments.
