In the dead of night as people sleep, that is when the spirits creep. As the bell tolls three, dark things take power. We like to call it the supernatural hour. Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour.

This is your host Raven. This is Chad. This is Dama. I'm Whiskey.

And we are super excited to be here this week. It has been the rough week for almost everybody. You did not know that. True that.

There was a phone. No. Full moon and in our neck of the woods more so you can get some more little deets there, but we had some pretty heavy rain which we are not used to in this part of the world. Yeah, I dropped about a foot and half of hail and span out of like seven minutes, which clocked basically every pipe in my area, the city flood, everything.

Skate parks turned into swimming pools. It's really bad. It's not like tornado destroyed in my neighborhood, but my neighborhood definitely got flooded. So, you know, when you go to sleep tonight, you put on my jacket.

And then I got to go on vacation with the PMS, you can eat it, that was fun. And then I started school. Belmine, I used to start at school. We have last week.

And moon is not with us because her kids started school and they got back to school night. So we're all overwhelmed. Let's talk a little bit about castle photo art. Sweet, let's do it.

So we're going to get our pictures taken by castle photo art. We still got to get that to happen. We're excited about it. I mentioned that like the last three podcasts I think and I just I need to just do it.

I need to add it to my list. I have a list. But go to castle. We can't talk about it anymore, you know, so.

Everyone's like, oh yes. So go to castle. There's a new drinking game of I wonder how long it's going to take Raven to get this going. But she mentioned she needs to do it.

Take a drink. So see castle for all your photo needs. If you're here in the Utah was that trend area, he does a great job. I'm super excited for this coming Saturday.

What's going on Saturday? Our insider shindig. Oh yeah. Our insider shindig with food.

We've got it all reserved and all set up. There's just no tables. We're going to have to take tables, but it'll be worth it. I saw moon pokes that she had medium tables to bring and I was like, I mean, they can like divine the future when we put them out or what makes a medium table.

If you sit at this table, put your hands in the middle that will read your, that will give you a reading. There's just gum on your mind. So I was going to say that's going to be at the secret super location that our patrons know about. You could probably still sneak in if you sign up as a patron and get in quick.

So it'll be touch and go. Yes, I want to order food from Chick-fil-A very, very soon. So we want to do this. You need to jump on it super fast.

And we have had responses back from a number of the patrons. Awesome. We're excited about that. We also have our September event scheduled and ready to go.

We're going to be going to the family tree. We've got those tickets up on the right already. And we are limiting the number on that. We're going to have a smaller number go this next time than we did last time to cut down on some of the noise.

We've got two great venues, but they're both under renovations. Just due to how the renovations are, there's a lot of noise we'll lead through. As soon as they get these renovations complete, we can take us a little bit. But just the nature of family tree, we have to keep it down anyway.

So we've never been able to have it. Normally, it doesn't like construction work and all that, sometimes, heightening things. So maybe it'd be an interesting time to go. Yes.

The big thing is, even with height and activity, if there's just a lot of sound, you won't notice it. They don't basically go notice unless it throws a glass or something. Would you be cool? Dangerous, but cool.

And here's the thing about a lot of noise pollution, as you could call it. Some of my best EDPs that I've heard or captured were at the City County Building, and it's just one great big marble, echoey thing. And at the time, I remember thinking, oh my gosh, none of our EDPs are going to be very good. So it's not to say that it's a horrible thing, but if we can avoid it, it's better.

And just what we mean is there's a lot of the carpeting that's been torn out. There's a lot of just open holes where light can get through and sound can get through. I mean, at the HU-H, if we're down in the theater and there's people upstairs in the projection room, there's literally just openings for the windows covered with plastic, and we could test it, we could hear each other, where once they get those windows filled in and carpeting down, I don't think that will be an issue and we can open up another area. But as it is right now, it's just there's too much noise filtering back and forth.

And same thing with the family tree. They've got all the flooring pulled out. We thought, when we were there last time, we thought, oh, there's all these great orbs. It turns out it was just people's flashlights up above going through the literal holes in the flooring.

Once they get the flooring down and stuff, we can open up three different areas there instead of it is what it is. We're just really grateful that we're able to investigate. They're fantastic now, they'll even be more fantastic when we can have a few more people. But point being, if you want to come to the family tree, jump on it because those tickets are quite limited.

And we've already sold 25% of them. I will say, we do. We actually decided to our dead talk series that we captured on the video. We'll set up the cameras again overnight, leave them there.

If you see something, you can let us know when to go look at the cameras. We'll put them in the hotspots, but we did get a nice orb that just slowly flew across the room way slower and more methodical than anything else in the room, brighter than everything else. So. Yeah, that was a good one.

Hopefully we'll catch some more. Oh yeah, and it'll be fun. And it seems to me, when we went to the family tree, we actually went the night before the public did. I remember most of the public did.

And it was kind of quiet, but it hadn't been investigated there for four years or three and a half years. And the second night was a little more active. And so I'm really looking forward to all the spirits that were there, get even a little more chatty because they're like, oh yeah, this is a thing now. Again, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

Yeah, we've also got some library presentations coming up in October. You may want to talk with the libraries. We don't control the attendance and things to these. We just put on the, our dead talks presentation, but we'll be at the Chapman library on October 11th and the Springville library on October 2nd.

So there may be another one coming also, but we, those have been confirmed and were booked for those. And October 2nd is a Wednesday and October 11th is at a Chapman in Salt Lake is Friday. And if you are in the North Utah County area or closer to that area, we usually do the American Fork library and I haven't heard from them yet. So I will reach out to them and see if that's what they want to do.

All right. So in our continuing saga of most haunted in the United States and each state, remember the last time we did this a few of podcasting, we did Massachusetts. We're going to move a little inland and hit up Iowa. So in Iowa, to me, it feels like there's just corn fields there, but I got looking and I know that's so stereotypical, but that's okay.

And I like corn. Corn's delicious. So that doesn't interesting things. And when you think of Iowa, the first thing you're going to think of is the silica acts murder house.

I'm sorry, I stumbled over that. Say that again? No, I'm not going to. I'm just going to get in class.

You know what I'm talking about. We're actually not going to talk about that because that one, everyone else about that, that's not anything new. So we're going to talk about maybe someone a lesser known, but I was surprised at how much stuff actually there was in Iowa. So here we go.

So the first place is called Stoney Hollow Road. And it's north near the Mississippi River. And it's not a happy place. If you know the story, there's a gal named Lucinda and she had gone to meet a man that she was secretly engaged to, but he never showed up.

And she's really sad because he didn't show up. And some people think that he actually ran off with another woman. Other stories are that his horse and buggy got stuck in the mud, but Lucinda killed herself. So what she did was she jumped off a cliff and met her end on Stoney Hollow Road.

And so people that drive on the road claim to see Lucinda's ghost walking around. And the legend claims that if you go to where she jumped to her death and say her name three times that she may appear, and if she does appear, she will drop a rose at your feet. And if that happens, there's a belief that you'll perish the very next day. So I'm just going to throw this out there and say, I'm not going to summon her because I don't want to see a rose.

So there's that. Look, it's like a pansy. Does she ever just whoop the flower? No fellers have different meanings.

Is it a black rose that you die or red rose? Maybe she wants to marry you instead of the guy that ghosted her. See what I did there. See?

Look at that. Ghost puns and actual ghosts. I don't know. Why is it always three?

Like Bloody Mary with three and then hers three? I don't know. It's like you have to have three or it does not say. Beadle juice.

Beadle juice. Yeah. So it could be a couple things, just tradition. It could be, I mean, if this is a demonic type of activity, the demonic types will use three as mocking of the Trinity.

So who knows? You have to tell me something at least three times to get it done. So it could just be busy and then they're like, what's the name of the human? They just do a couple months.

Selective hearing. This haunting to me sounds more like a residual haunt though. When we talk about the differences between an intellectual haunting, someone that's actually interacting with a residual haunt is seeing the same thing over and over again. I think I throw it in a residual haunt or because there's death associated with her appearance occurs.

Yeah. Ooh. Because that's a bit interacting if she's going to drop a rose. You know what I mean?

Unless that triggers the residual to happen. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. If we take the drop in a rose out of the equation, this one does smacks to me at the classic residual.

In fact, that city that it's in is also the home of the world's most crooked street. Wow. And not because it's like shady deals, it just goes left and right a bunch of times. In the whole world?

That's it. Ripley's believed or not. So you can believe it or not. That's what I said.

Well, if Ripley said it's got to be true, right? They put the or not in there for a reason. You can choose not to believe it, but it's a fact. That's right.

That's to you close minded. Sitting's out there. You can not believe it, but it's still a street. All right.

I used to love someone's of been leaving. Crocoders. I don't know. Because I was thinking, you know that one road in what is it in San Diego or San Francisco thinking that does that extreme zigzag down the hill?

So is it crooked or not? Because that's pretty wild. What kind of crooked is that going to be? That's Lombardi Street, I think.

All right. So let's move on. So Cresco Theater and Opera House and it is in Cresco, Iowa. So this Opera House and Theater opened in 1915 and it was originally called the Cresco Opera House.

And it's 100-year history, so a little more than 100 years at this point. It's been home to an unknown number of actors and performers. They've just had a ton. Go through there 100 years is a lot of time.

It's served as a location for live performances and modern motion pictures. So it wasn't just theater. It was also like an acting theater, but also just a cinematic theater. But because of this, it has also become home to a lot of ghosts and paranormal activity.

And as you guys know, we've been in many theaters and they've all had activity. So as our group, we've done the Huey, we've done the Hub, we've done the Opera. The Off-Broadway. And the Off-Broadway Theater.

It was crazy, I do. I would love to get back to there at some. I worked at a theater for a long time and it was also haunted. A lot of staff reports are fun, not fun fact, but fact.

A lot of people actually die at movie theaters. It doesn't sound like something that would happen, but when you break it down, there are a lot of people that go there that may be of poor health or a bit older during the day and it's a very relaxing environment in the dark and the lights come on, they're just there. And the fact that you, I was scared to death. That's a fact.

That is a fact. So, you know, just check on the person next to you in the theater sometimes, next time you're watching a movie, make sure you're there alive. I got an EDP from the recorder when you took it down to the Opera House in Virginia City. I was just going to say we were at that there too and we got some good EDPs and I think we also had some visuals there.

Yeah, so long ago. Yeah, so back to Iowa. People have witnessed what appeared to be ghosts of vaudeville performers on the stage. There's also a lone ghost that sits in the theater when it's dark and looks like someone's sitting there and if someone approaches them, they vanish.

So the basement is home to additional entities. They have stated that there's issues with electrical disturbances down there and the basement odd sounds, voices in the theater when it's empty and no one's there. So all pretty typical kind of theater, hauntty stuff. I will say out of those, the one that I would be interested in just going and checking out is where they say when the lights are off, it goes kind of a few years in a specific spot sitting but when they get close it disappears.

That to me sounds kind of like peridolia a little bit. A lot of times when somebody sees something they're like, when you come to this specific tree and you look up at this window you'll see a woman standing there at certain times a day and when the shadow is open. Exactly, yes. I'd be curious if maybe one of the seats is stained if a person is sitting there, if it's really old theater, it's very possible.

Or just how the shadows fall at that certain area. Yeah. Exactly. So now I would really be interested in looking into it.

I'm just going to throw this out there. If you don't know what peridolia is, it's just your mind, the human brain wants to make sense out of chaos. So this is why we see faces in tree trunks and shapes and clouds. Our brain doesn't like chaos and so it's going to try to make things.

So oftentimes people look at this face in the picture, there's this ghost in here and there's a face. And so you have to be really careful and say, is it a face or is it just certain shapes and shadows and patterns that our brain is turning into a face? And I'll be the first to admit it, if I figure out, oh, you know what, no, I think peridolia I am super disappointed because I want it to be a ghost face. I want it to be ghostly arm sticking out.

I want it to be all these paranormal things, but most of the time it's not going to be. So don't get too excited about some of the things you might see in your pictures until you give it a good looking at. Okay, so next we have a bridge. We actually have a couple bridges.

And if you... If they have animals and goats and things. I was just going to say, if you are a patreon and get our bonus episodes, you will get that inside joke. If you don't get that inside joke, you can become a patreon so you can get all the inside digs.

But to my knowledge, there's no animals. But apparently there's people because it's a haunted bridge. They call it Terra Bridge. Sometimes they call it Terror Bridge because it's spooky.

This history of this bridge dates back to the 1800s. And at one time it was not far from a town called Terra, that's the name Terra Bridge. We're getting really creative here. This bridge was built to allow traffic to go over some railroad tracks that are there.

There's a ton of stories that are associated with the bridge. One of the stories is that a frustrated farmer haunts the area. And he got really frustrated with the winds. And it's believed that he died after he cursed the winds.

He cursed them and died because of that. Other stories claim that someone or something lives beneath the bridge. And one of the stories about someone under the bridge is actually about a woman and her three children. And as the story goes, the woman took her kids to the bridge to see the train.

Because the train's going to go over the bridge, it's going to be pretty and cool. And she kind of lost it. And she actually threw her kids onto the tracks as the train were coming one at a time and they were all filled by the train. And then the mom committed suicide by jumping off the bridge, which is quite high to feel that it's driven.

And so some claims have been made that if you drive on the bridge and don't stop, and you have to make sure that all of your doors and windows are closed and locked. Otherwise the mother will come and throw you on the tracks or off the bridge. So that's like the story of the Billy Goat Rough. How is she supposed to know that they could just jump onto the railroad and bridge and ride it?

You know? There's a woman of science just trying things. Also, there was a story there, another account of the same lady that she had six children and like a supervillain, she tied them all to the tracks and watched them get ran over, which is... That's just more frightening.

This is terrible. You know, you got to have some mental aches. You want more facts? You want more facts?

Well, this bridge is described as a ponytail bridge and is now officially called the Band-Ole Bridge, but according to the National League of Historic Bridges, it is officially the 220th Street overpass. So, you know... I'm more, you know. Don't trigger my facts!

The only thing I got on bridges is I remember in high school, we were taking the bus, I would take the bus, and for some reason the entire bus agreed and believed in this. You had to touch a screw when you go across the train tracks and we're all going to die. So literally the train, everyone's like, train track! I'll be like, all grabbed, we all poked a screw on the bus.

I don't know, we had some freaky superstition. What's that? It's all I got. That's fun.

Okay, so we're going to be real here. Whether or not this actually happened with this mother, we don't know. You know, a lot of times the stories we get are legit. Sometimes they're not.

Sometimes it's legend and wives tales. But if there's a ghost associated with something that's usually always sad, you know, a mother, killing her children on the train tracks, mother, she's got three or six, that's sad. Well, Rainbow Bridge, which is in Lake City, Iowa, is not a sad ghost. This is actually kind of a happy ghost.

In all fairness, we don't know exactly who the ghost is or how this ghost died. So it's possible that the death was tragic, but the interesting thing about this ghost... Make him wait for it, good call, good call. Just thanks, really.

I had my son think my daughter's son was not able to find the location. But the interesting thing about this ghost is this one's actually going to make you chuckle. So if you want a good chuckle from a ghost, go to Rainbow Bridge in Lake City, Iowa. The people claim that it's haunted, but this particular ghost really likes chocolate and pre-shaped chocolate so much.

So according to the locals, if you go to this bridge and leave an unopened chocolate bar or candy bar, but preferably chocolate, if you put it on the center of the bridge, something unusual will happen. The candy bar will be gone, but the wrapper will be completely intact and unopened. I first read that I thought that's lame, a dog came into good or a raccoon or something, but I had to read it again. It's an unopened chocolate bar.

And if you put it in the bridge, the candy will disappear, but the wrapper will still be completely intact. See, now when Forrest Gump said life is like a box chock he's never going to get, maybe he was there. Maybe he opened his box of chocolate to the center of the bridge and there was nothing. He did not know that he was not going to get chocolate.

Right? Oh my goodness. I'm thinking little ants, they all worked as a team and they just got up in there and took it chunk by chunk. They worked together real hard.

Super ants. That's a fact. I kind of want to know why does this ghost like chocolate? Because it's delicious or something more.

This story left me wanting a little more information. So we have a ghost that gives roses, a ghost that likes chocolate. Is this the Valentine's Day episode? Nobody told me.

Oh, we should think. Dang it. Oh man. More planning.

But it's interesting though, the thing with the chocolate and the ghost because one of the things that we have discovered is ghosts can actually smell. And again, this is one of the things you can't 100% prove. But we have, when we've gone out to a silent 49, we've taken things for the child ghosts to smell and they say they can smell it. And Vincent Grissmull, there's a little girl in one of the cabins and I told her that I will bring her some food to smell and we've asked different spirits if they want us to bring them food to smell.

And they've all said yes. So based on that, I'm going to assume that they can actually smell things. You know, that is something as you're ghost hunting that you can try. That's a question you can ask is their favorite smell you have.

Yes, no, if yes, then see if you can narrow it down. And if you can, if you go there again, take it and see if that can elicit any sort of activity. And that's why when we tell you if you make a sound like a fart or something, you got to tell us because if you don't, it goes well. So it's just it's better to get you reported yourself.

But you need to silent for deadly. Absolutely. I'm not going to throw you in the thermal camera, which I often forget, but I've put it in a place so I will remember to take it. And I pull it out.

I always say, okay, no one fart because I will know who it is. So the thermal camera doesn't lie, folks. All right. So our next place is Iowa State University.

And for you, football fan, Chad, is this the ISU that's in the Big 12? Are they in the Big 12? Yes, there's the cyclones. Awesome.

So I might get to watch them play football pretty soon, which is coming up, folks. But most come up soon. And let me tell you nothing is scarier than student loans. That's what we're going right.

That's the ghost of bills passed. So Iowa State University was founded in 1858. Its original name was the Iowa State College of Agricultural, Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, which makes sense for the region. It's a big farming area.

It later became Iowa State University or ISU. And today it's well known for being a very big in science, engineering and agriculture, but it's also haunted. And school's being haunted. That's just kind of the thing.

One of the ghosts that is said to be there is named Frederica Schatik. And Frederica was a major contributor to the university's theater department, see where we're going here, when she was alive. So it's said that her spirit has haunted both the Schatik Theater and then the newly built Fisher Theater. So she's just like the theater.

She wants to check out the new one. Students claim to have seen her wheelchair move on its own as well as hearing disembodied voices. There's also a ghost there named Hortense, Elizabeth Wind. She's a former Red Cross nurse from the World War I era.

And she haunts the Gold Star Hall. Do you guys know what the Gold Star? The Gold Star families. Gold Star families are.

Yep. Okay. You don't know what Gold Star families are? I don't know what Gold Star families are.

It's different. It's different. Gold Star families are families that have had family members dying in the military service. Okay.

Yeah, so she haunts their Gold Star Hall. And then there are two sisters that are believed to haunt the farmhouse museum, which kind of makes sense because if it's a museum there's going to be a lot of trigger objects, my guess would be they would be attached to something in the museum probably. There's another story there about the two police officers who were just patrolling and thought they saw somebody in an indoor area that students should be allowed to go to. And so they went to go confront them and when they went to the main contact and they shouted at them, the person jumped up two stories to the top of the ceiling and the roof and they saw them quickly, which is obviously already paranormal, quickly squeezed their way into a window up in the attic and they went and looked, which very brave at that point.

I'm just seeing that. I'm like, well, probably bird, right? That's why people drive movies and it's pretty accurate. We would have had that.

Yeah, exactly. But when they got up to the attic, they found them hanging from their afters and they've been missing for over a week. Oh, wow. What?

So, yeah. I've had a lot of people say, oh, yeah, there's no such thing as goes above. But I've just seen and heard a few things where I think that sometimes those spirits can hang around. Like, you think that after they passed due to the hanging, they wanted their body to be found and that was an attempt to get someone to go up there.

A couple of things. Something was attached to him to cause him to do that and that attached thing was all creepy jumping. Yeah, that could be it too. And this is what makes the paranormal fun is you just don't know and trying to find those answers is one reason why I do that.

I understand. I always tell people, like, a lot of people like to ask us really definitive questions and I have to tell them, like, look, man, I don't know if it's people that we're talking to of its things that claim to be people. If it's the past, the future, I don't know. All I'm looking for is intelligent response and you make what you want of it until we can call them up on the other side and ask definitively.

I like to think that we're still kind of pioneers trying to discover some things, really. I mean, it makes us sound super fancy, but we are super fancy. But in the paranormal, there's just, like Whiskey said, you can't really prove anything yet. All we can try to do is get intelligence responses, get things to turn on, turn off, ask us no questions and try to determine what's accurate, what's not.

But even in the paranormal world, there's very few things that are super definitive. I had someone asking me just very recently to define, you know, a certain aspect of the paranormal and I said, you know what, there isn't one. As far as the questions that she was asking, I said, based on what you're telling me, I would define it as maybe this or this. And she wanted to define it other ways.

Not really an industry standard, I said, find it as you want. I think that's like the beauty of like science and all you're doing is collecting data and the more you get, the more you can explain things, but to be open to maybe what new data you can get to kind of shape your thinking there because science is always evolving. And that's how we get all this new technology, new ways to kind of see it. So it's definitely grown since we started getting a part of this and that's only more and more intriguing in eye-opening.

If you attended the post- I'm going to push my internet for my computer to work, that would be great. So I could be my computer to my phone. I don't know why anybody laughs at this because like the G in 3G, 4G, 5G, that's the amount of ghosts tied to your phone. So they wouldn't have named it G otherwise.

Absolutely. Okay, so the next one will probably be kind of shocking to everybody, I'm sure, but it's a cemetery. It's called, I know, who would have thought, right? So it's called Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City and this was established in 1843, so as far as the United States is concerned, it's on the older side and there's a bronze statue of an angel and if you look this up, it's really quite a pretty angel.

She's called with a black angel often because it turned black over the years and there's a ton of legends associated with her. Some believe that the statue commemorates Eddie and Nicholas Feldervert and they believe it's changed colors because the artist who created it, her name is Trisa Feldervert, enjoyed the dark arts. So some people think that it's got some dark paranormal activity associated with it. Some of the other legends state that anyone who kisses or touches the angel will die immediately.

Other stories say that any contact with the statue, even walking beneath it, will result in a horrible fate or loss. If you look at the statue, I would highly suggest looking at it from afar. Although it has fallen into Whiskey's valentines of chocolate roses, now we have kisses, so. I just want to call out that I zoomed into an image when you're like, if you want to look from afar, check out the next podcast episode, see if I'm so...

Did you kiss it? You're good if you didn't kiss it. There's also a story talking about fates were horrible losses. There's a story that states that a young man went insane and was eventually found dead when he tried to remove one of the angel's hands.

And I'm just going to say, why would you go into a cemetery and remove stuff? Also why the hand is weird. I don't know, people are weird. If you go into a cemetery, just leave everything as it is, please.

It doesn't work. Also, stop kissing statues in public. What's wrong with you people? Stop it!

Stop it! Don't be weird! Stop being weird. Speaking of kissing headstones, have you guys seen or heard of Marilyn Monroe's headstone?

I haven't heard of it, I haven't seen it. I haven't heard of it. In the Mausoleum? Yeah, she's buried in a Mausoleum and her headstone is just part of a wall, right?

And all of these in her area, they're all gray, a lot like gray with kind of the black gray snuckles. So many people have kissed her headstone with lipstick to leave lip marks that her stone is kind of a pinky shoe. The young Bill going to clean it off, but it's gone into the granite or marble, whatever it is. And her stone is actually a permanent pink color.

And it didn't start out that way. No, it started out just gray like everybody else's, but it's definitely got a pinky shoe to it now. I heard that somebody on their tombstone put like, Marilyn's around the corner. Yes.

Yeah, that's right. And there's some story about the guy that she's next to, and I don't remember what that was, but yeah, that's a fun little story. Marilyn Monroe and I love her co-hards. Okay, so next is the Independence State Mental Hospital in Independence, Iowa.

And I just think the energy and everything that goes on in a state hospital is just going to lend to paranormal activity. For two reasons, one, which came first at Chicken or Egg, are there entities that are creating the issues that will put you in this hospital? Or are your mental issues drawing in entities to just work on you harder to go both ways? And I'm not saying that any mental illness has an entity in order for that, but it lends to a hierarchy of each of it.

The key distinction is that mental illness and paranormal affection are being affected by the paranormal or two different things, but they can present like the same. If you tell us you saw something fly off your shelf, we don't know whether you saw things or anything like that until it comes off. They're not related, but they do display the same thing that's important. Absolutely.

Don't go off your meds if you are on meds. Right. No, I mean, technically there's three basic scenarios and anybody could maybe break it down into more. It's just mental illness and everybody has got to do some degree or another, right?

And it just, it is what it is. Okay. Okay. Okay.

And you can just have mental illness on its own and it is, but it is. Sometimes the mental illness could be caused by some paranormal activity and sometimes the mental illness could attract it. And everyone's different. Everyone's unique.

Everyone's got their own story to tell when it comes to that. But let's get back to Independence State Hospital. In the late 1800s, I had one asylum and it was called Mount Pleasant State Hospital and it got overcrowded. And so a fellow named Stephen von Shipman designed a new facility which he built in 1873.

And his facility in particular was meant to house drug addicts, alcoholics, mentally ill, elderly and the criminally insane. And it took 10 years to build this facility. And if you look at it, it's a beautiful building. Huge.

This don't work as incredible on it. Today is the State Mental Hospital and it serves not only for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs that they have there and I, but it's also a psychiatric hospital and also a training school for a nursing program. So it's multifunctional. Early on in the history of building subjects that were there had some rather unpleasant treatments and in certain areas, certain patients underwent electric shock therapy and lobotomies, which I'm not an expert in the field of mental health issues, but I don't think they use those as much anymore as they did back in the day.

They're not sure if at the time they were, they're not sure if at the time some of these doctors and nurses did this for their to help with their mental health issues or if it was used as a controlled thing for patients. So people who worked there now or have worked there recently said that there are certain parts of the institution that they will not enter because of the activity that's going on there. And some of this, you know, pretty typical, the feeling of being watched by something or someone. A lot of people have reported hearing screams, whispering, there's a body of voices.

A lot of people say they get mysterious cold drafts when there shouldn't be cold drafts. Shadows appearing in empty hallways that they've claimed to see ghosts of former staff members, former patients. It's a place that tons of paranormal investigators go to in hopes of catching some of this activity because there's a lot of it. If it were closer, I would be there because it sounds like they let you in, which is awesome.

But to this day, it is still a fully operational institution and apparently some of the people haven't left. That's crazy. It's been around since 1800s. A lot of these hospitals we hear about, like, even that are abandoned now we're built in, like, the 70s, some of them.

So, good on them for still being still operating after that much time. Oh yeah, Waverly Hills Sanatorium is a real popular one for Ghost Hunters to go to. Not because told stories about the hospital he works at. And I've heard several stories from people that have worked at the hospital.

I've got family that works there and it's crazy haunted. We heard recently of some stories from the state mental hospital here in Utah of some crazy paranormal activity. And we actually tried to get into there, but they are not allowing Ghost Hunters inside as of right now. But yeah, those definitely have energy to bring in the activity.

All right, last one we'll talk about and I'm sure we could go on for a long time. But there's a place called Edinburgh Manor in Monticello, Iowa. And the exact address, if you would like it, is 13241 E23 County Home Road Monticello, Iowa. So if you want to go give it a look.

This is another really beautiful building. From the picture it looks quite large. Beautiful architecture. It is a farm that was plagued by the mistreatment of its inmates.

It's actually ninth on the list of Iowa haunted places. It has a grim past. And because of this grim past, it really sets it up to be a great place for paranormal activity. And it's a place that a lot of Ghost Hunters, especially in the local area, I'm sure, love going.

So there is a menacing presence known as the Joker. And he is a malevolent spirit and he's been accused of physically interacting with visitors in physical ways that are quite unsettling, leaving marks and throwing objects at people. There are stories of whispers, shadowy figures, a sudden inexplicable chill, just some of your typical things. So this manor has a dark history of inmate abuse.

And they call it Edinburgh Manor. And it didn't point to a lot of detail, but because it talks about inmates I'm going to to assume that it was either a jail of some sort, or if I'm looking at it maybe not a jail, but maybe not a jail, but maybe another sort of a grim sanatorium. But if you are in the Iowa area and you want to get someplace bad, it's definitely haunted I'm going to check out Edinburgh Manor. Anyplace that's going to house inmates, whether it's for health reasons or for public safety reasons, it's just going to have an energy that attracts a paranormal activity.

We were going to try to get into the Utah State prison before they tore it down. They built a new facility. But the Joker, I mean, it's not more sinister than Joker. Just putting it out there with the scratches makes you wonder, like, where did that name even come from?

I would say more like, scary, scratchy man. I know. The Joker sounds like he's going to be playful, not malevolent. Yeah, exactly.

So yeah, I would like that name doesn't make up very much of a warning. It really goes on there. Scary, scratchy man. I literally could not think of anything and that's what you get.

Just like the lint roller, that's a really sneaky thing. So that's kind of brain works. I can't get it. The latest entry to the DC universe everybody.

I'd be a little scared of a scary, scratchy man. I don't know. Scary, scratchy man. That's terrifying.

Alright, so give us a handful of podcasts. We'll do another state. If you're listening and you want your state done, shoot us an email. App.wisps.contact at gmail.com.

Otherwise, I'm just randomly picking them. We started Massachusetts. We went to Iowa, unless I hear otherwise I'll do something kind of West-ish. But if you want your state, give us a shot.

I like how it works. I like how it works. Yeah, you do get certain. I love how it works.

Corn, fire over state because you don't hear a lot about what goes on in those kind of states. So I think that's pretty cool. We love Iowa. You're haunting, scary.

We'll come visit you two degrees. Alright, whiskey, what you got for us? You know, listen. We want to talk about some stuff.

We want to talk about some stuff. We want to talk about some things. We want to talk about some stuff. Alright, I think one thing that I just want to talk about based off of what I witnessed at this latest on is the importance of using multiple pieces of equipment.

Hey, don't get me wrong on a public investigation at a certain point. If you're setting stuff off with your own phone, I will let you just have a blast because I can only step in so much. But it really, we had some moments, especially in the basement where we're kind of shielded from everything where the trifield meter very easily debunked things. And I think we've witnessed some people that open-minded believers, I guess I would say, go and have to do that with equipment.

So if you don't have a trifield meter yet, make sure you grab one because most people use K2s. There's some meters I do, electric and magnetic. But without that, you can't really tell if it's Wi-Fi or anything like that. So hands down, would recommend if you don't have one and get one.

I feel like everybody on the team has one now. They have digital ones, they're really cheap actually. They only have the one with the needle. I have that one too.

It's a little responsive, but that's my thing that I want to talk about today. Super short. We talked about that stuff. And it's super disappointing when you're K2 pigs to red and you're like, ooh, and then you look over and you're showing that the radio waves are through the roof.

I'm like, aww. But you know, you want to be accurate. You want to, if there's paranormal, you want to be able to debunk it and say, wow, we can't explain this. When you easily can through your trifil meter, that doesn't mean that you can't find something later.

It's just not that time. That's why those multiple points of data is so important to add to it. Just like, oh, the radio waves. I will say that using it for a while with your other devices, eventually you'll start to be able to tell the difference.

Like, when I see a K2 meter go off, I now know just through validating myself on other pieces of equipment, like, hey, that looks like Wi-Fi or a cell phone the way that it's pulsing. A lot of the times on K2 meters and things like that, if you see a very repetitive, spirits are repetitive sometimes too. But if it lasts for three, four seconds of non-consistent reading but a pulse, that's usually Wi-Fi, that's usually your phone, something like that. If you got to try feeling it, you can just slap it down right there and figure it out right on the spot.

You know what else I'd recommend? Well, I'm just out here with facts and recommendations today. Going to advancedburnermal.com and getting some screen after all, or swag. All right.

That's what I'd recommend. Maybe an umbrella can be a umbrella, isn't there? I feel like a tumbler for me. Oh, thank you, Bob.

Yeah. Well, yeah. A five-gallon advancedburnermal bucket. We'll see, maybe, some floaties that we can get on there later.

Get a jacket, maybe, get a shirt and wear it to our advanced, maybe. It's going to be hoodie weather. It is going to be hoodie weather. I got a lot of hoodies.

And you know what pairs well with the hoodie? I think I've said this before, but once you got your hoodie on, go on to our YouTube, TikTok, go with us.org and go check out some of our evidence. Go subscribe to the Patreon and then give our secret Discord and see more evidence so we don't post anywhere else. Yeah, check all that stuff out.

Well, so you're not going to say a mug with hot chocolate. Yeah. Well, it's like, we're still hitting 80s. We're still in 80s here.

You know, we got to, I got to stay like in the 70s at least for a week before I'm like, ooh, apple cider and hot chocolate. I'll trade you my like 100 with sweat. So I've just got this out here. I had to go up to school today and I had to go into the bookstore and get a left-handed notebook.

I'm not left-handed, but with Arabic, it's easier to write in the left-handed notebook. And with every purchase, you got a free mug, right? It's a Tommy Bahama, Travis, Tumblr, right? You guys can see it's pretty fancy.

I got it for free with my purchase because I'm stupid. But what color is that, folks? You can't see it. It's blue.

It's blue. I got the University of Utah. We are red. Why are they giving us blue cups?

Blue. You're blue for buying a bunch of school stuff with your debt, everyone? I know, but the rival school is blue. So it's a little disconcerting.

But anyway, it's a nice mug. It was green. You can throw it out there and say that it's red. It is red in color and you guys watch listening.

We'll just have to decide who's telling the truth. It's with me. Maybe. Orange is red.

Hold on. See, that's what the jokester should be doing. That has stuff. Exactly.

Alright, so we did a boo-boo in our last podcast. You know what our boo-boo? Oh, no! I know.

We went and investigated the Dancing Gris Mill and we've totally forgot to talk about it. I blacked out. I got scared. I blacked out.

So we're going to talk about the Dancing Gris Mill even though we investigate it like a time ago. So... It was a month yesterday. That's how long it was.

I know, we suck. So it would have been really bad if it happened. Well, first of all, owls. That was scary.

They were dive bombing people outside. They actually didn't dive on me. But they were dive bombing outside and making screeches and not scared people, which I thought was pretty funny. Well, that's the new thing.

That's the new thing because I've been out there a dozen times at least and I've never had owls. Ever. I think that's the atmosphere. If we had to tell people like, hey, an owl might kill you on the investigation.

It really spies things up. It really could be a no ghost. No, no. I can't see both of their toes.

You definitely had to kind of debunk it because like, okay, it was that the sound. It was that an owl was that a ghost. There were little owl pellets everywhere. Owl poop everywhere.

That was new. I've seen there'd be like a cocoon there before, but I've never seen owls. What if there's like a symbolism there? Owl poop symbolism.

Not poop art, okay. The owl poop. I was just wearing one of those things. You throw a bunch of sticks on the ground and you're like, but the owl poop's in it.

There's four in the spot. It means good luck. It was a good investigation. There's a lot of ground to cover there for sure.

It was also very, very hot. So being inside of some of those buildings, I kept having to walk outside and get a little fresh air. We captured a pretty good orb, moon captured an orb that phased in and out within like a third of a second without moving or anything. New York or camera was purple in color.

Just popped in and out inside of the barn where the barn owls were fun fact interesting that they were actually at the barn. Who knew? So we had that. We had a person, I didn't even want to talk about that picture.

I was submitted. Oh, yes. So at the end of the investigation, and we've actually put this in with her permission, we've put this into our evidence video when we talk about pictures, this was taken by one of our guests. And in the picture, it's in the infamous loom room and she's taken a picture and it's towards the mirror.

And so you see the client, our guests taking the picture and her elbows are up, right? Because she's holding the camera and she's holding it up, just kind of your typical picture taking pose. But if you look behind her, when you first look at the picture, it looks like a woman standing or a person standing there with her arms down. But if you look closer, you see an arm down on the left hand side of the photo.

And then you see that her arm, the girl's arms up. So it's like you're seeing three arms. And then if you look at the head, you see a head, but then there's a second head off to the side. And so you can definitely tell that there's someone standing behind the person taking the photo and she says that she was in there alone.

There was no one standing. This person would have to have been standing immediately behind her. And to me, just the way the head is, it looks like a woman, just because there's like hair, like it's up. And we know that there is a woman, the woman, there's a female spirit in that particular cabin that hates me.

And so in fact, there's a woman spirit in this cabin, it makes sense to me. It's a very good picture. And it's the kind of picture where you tell people when you take pictures, really look at it. Because if you just gave that picture a passing glance, you would just think, oh, there's a woman standing there.

And it's actually too. So it was a fun picture. It was definitely alone because that was part of my group. And we all just left and she was taking pictures real quick by herself.

So that's pretty cool. And that room, we got a lot of things with the dowsing rods. And we're talking about this sewing machine. And because there's a lot of pointing, it kept pointing to that sewing machine.

And so we asked questions about that. And so that was pretty interesting conversation. And then Moon was like, do you want to see the thing that I sold for my kid for an event? And so that was a fun little interaction to try out and see how reactions were to a conversation piece.

We got a lot of activity in the schoolhouse. If there's one thing that I can do on investigation to get some activity, it's keep talking and be annoying. Great at that. Nothing to the gap for sure.

So I ran a class. The awkward part was my team, the people that were assigned to me started participating in the class, trying to leave open-ended questions for the ghosts, potentially in the class to answer. But a lot of people, I think we went over insurance. We learned some French together.

But we did start getting activity, which was pretty interesting. So whenever I would kind of be annoying or make a bad joke, we'd get cat balls that would be annoying. And it seemed like over the course of it, there was at least one entity that wanted to participate and to answer the questions and things like that. And then there was one that would just trigger something whenever I was just being annoying.

I did not pass to get the job for a substitute teacher at the Benson-Gris Mill, but one day. Yeah, we had a lot of cat balls also in that room. And the same desk from the last time I was there had a stick figure from the SLS in that it was the back right corner. But it wasn't an interactive one.

It was like sitting there and sometimes the arm would go up as if they're just like, I'm just listening to this class so that maybe residual is kind of interesting. The interesting thing that I found there in past experience for me, it seemed like a quieter night than usual. I was active, but I've seen it more active. But there's a particular cabin where there's a little girl who will talk to you all night if you let her.

And she wasn't as chatty this time as normal. And I thought that was interesting. And so we asked her apparently there's an entity that was in the room with us that she was afraid of and wasn't letting her talk. And it turns out that there was a type three that was following me around everywhere I went that night.
