That said, the two films share little more than Miss Hathaway and fashion. Yet Lowery’s haunting film blurs the lines between memory and reality, performance and perception, in an eerie and artful manner.As Madison tried to convey, Mother Mary, “is not a love story,” and it’s “...not a ghost story,” rather it’s “a very mythic, archetypal kind of movie where it’s very dreamlike.” For many, those blurred lines and split storytelling styles will cause a bit of confusion.
