I spoke with him back in December about his life and the many lessons he’s learned over the years—as an HR leader, as a father, and as an influential voice in the Utah business community. A main takeaway for me from our conversation: most leaders are bad at performance management because we've been conditioned to identify what's wrong first, rather than seek opportunities to praise our employees for the many things they do right.
