Die MotoGP ist in Barcelona in ihre zweite Saisonhälfte 2020 gestartet. Und der Katalonien-GP könnte einen wichtigen Wendepunkt in der WM darstellen. Weil Fabio Quartararo nach fünf Rennen ohne Podium zurück auf der Siegerstraße ist und Joan Mir mit der vierten Podestplatzierung in fünf Grands Prix weiterhin konstant abliefert, Andrea Dovizioso in Barcelona hingegen eine Nullnummer schreibt. Er ist schon in der zweiten Kurve in eine Kettenreaktion involviert und wird von Johann Zarco aus dem Rennen genommen. Auch Valentino Rossi kommt nicht ins Ziel. Er stürzt mit der Chance auf den ersten Sieg seit Assen 2017 auf dem zweiten Platz liegend aus dem Katalonien-GP. Maverick Vinales erlebt wieder einmal ein desaströses Rennen und kommt über Rang neun nicht hinaus. Quartararo führt nun in der WM, acht Zähler vor Mir, 18 vor Vinales und 24 vor Dovizioso.
