Rob Interviews Captain Chris Jordan who after 6 years will be transitioning out of the army and into the public sector. Captain Chris Jordan didn't come from a military family. He joined with a desire to serve his country. Rob and Chris discuss both his expectations of the army and the realities he endured. I can't think of any other organization that is better at teaching you leadership [than the army] -Captain Chris Jordan Captain Christopher S. Jordan is from Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Southeastern University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Leadership and commissioned as an Infantry Officer in May 2009 from Florida Southern College Army ROTC.  Upon completing the Infantry Officer Basic Course and Ranger School, he was assigned to 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado in May of 2010. Upon redeployment of the Brigade in June 2010, he was immediately placed in charge of 1st Platoon, Charlie Troop. Then, Second Lieutenant Jordan served as a Platoon Leader for twelve months leading his platoon through everything from Expert Infantry Badge training to a Platoon Live Fire exercise. Promoted to First Lieutenant, he was then selected to serve as the Charlie Troop Executive Officer where he participated in multiple Brigade level training exercises and completed a rotation at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, Louisiana. Prior to the Brigade’s deployment to Afghanistan, First Lieutenant Jordan was afforded the opportunity to attend the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program II and was selected for service in the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia. He immediately deployed as a Battle Captain in support of Operation Enduring Freedom XII. Upon returning home, he was placed in charge of the Battalion’s specialty platoons to include the Reconnaissance, Sniper, and K9 Platoon. He was promoted to Captain in December 2012 and was hand picked to deploy as the Ground Force Commander for the Reconnaissance Platoon in support of Operation Enduring Freedom XII in February 2013. Afterward Captain Jordan was placed in charge of 1st Platoon, Alpha Company when he returned home. After leading his platoon through an intense Joint Operational Readiness Training System, he once again deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom XII. Upon returning to Savannah he was placed on orders for a permanent change of station to Fort Benning, Georgia for attendance in the Maneuver Captains Career Course, which he graduated from in January 2015. He is currently serving as a Company Commander for the Basic Airborne Course as apart of the 1/507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Captain Jordan’s military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the U.S. Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal. His decorations include the Parachutist Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and Ranger Tab. His foreign award is Italian Airborne Wings. Captain Jordan is married to his best friend of six years, Ashley Rae Jordan of Plant City, Florida. They have a three-year-old son, Josiah, and a seventeen-month-old daughter, Kylie Rae.
