Mountains — God of the Valleys: A Good Friday Service

This Good Friday meditation asks what Jesus finished when he said It is finished . The cross was not forced upon him; he willingly walked a road that fulfilled God's plan, betrayed, falsely tried, brutally scourged, and crucified for nine hours. His enemies unwittingly named the answer: he saved others but could not save himself, because our salvation depended on his death. The reason lies in two truths held together: God is holy and hates sin because it severs relationship, and God is love. On the cross, the sinless one became sin for us and was forsaken in our place. The invitation is to receive this gospel, and for those who already have, to remember that sin is finished and there is no reason to walk back into the old life.
