Mountains — Mount Moriah

Opening the Mountains series, this message races through Genesis to reach Mount Moriah. God chose elderly, pagan-raised Abram and Sarai to begin a holy nation, proving he delights to use ordinary people for extraordinary purposes. Twenty-five years after the promise, Isaac was born, because when God makes a promise he is always faithful to keep it. Then God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son. Abraham rose early the next morning and obeyed. Throughout, the call is to see Jesus: Isaac carrying the wood up the mountain, the ram provided in his place, Moriah's hills where the temple would stand and where Christ would die. Fearing God means obeying in faith, especially when it makes no sense.
