Mountains — Mount of Temptation

Temptation is common, being tempted is not itself sin, and Scripture promises a way out — that framing opens this message on Matthew 4:1-11 , the testing of Jesus in the wilderness. Drawn into the desert hungry and worn after forty days, Jesus models how the way out actually works. Three temptations are traced: doubting God's provision, testing God, and selling out for the kingdoms of the world. Beneath them runs a subtler attack on identity — if you are the Son of God — the same seed of doubt the enemy plants in us. Jesus answers each with Scripture internalized, not merely memorized. The application moves past technique to surrender. Quoting Scripture without submitting to God's authority fails; lasting victory comes from specifically surrendering the besetting area and resting secure in an identity already affirmed by the Father.
