Melanie Hemling and her Mandatory Leisure Group is an entire vibe onto its own. Her rhythmic acoustic passages and smooth voice live somewhere between the annual  Hot August festival and an afterhours speakeasy jazz club, hidden behind the walls of a New York City Italian Restaurant. I’ve only seen Melanie perform once, but I was instantly impressed and can’t wait to see how her songwriting and career opens up.
