Moved with Compassion
from HopeUC Banjara Hills Hosted by HopeUC Banjara Hills
Ever tried to do the right thing and felt like life pushed back harder? We open a raw, hopeful conversation about how God meets us in that gap—through a compassion that doesn’t stay quiet. Drawing on twelve New Testament moments, we track the pulse of splanchnizomai, the gut-level mercy that moved Jesus to heal, feed, teach, and restore. From the widow at Nain to the blind men in Jericho, from the leper longing for a touch to crowds starving for bread and truth, we see how divine compassion becomes decisive action. Along the way, we wrestle with the question many of us carry: How does God treat me when my motives are right but I still struggle? The Gospels answer with a consistent pattern—when we seek, cry out, and come hungry, Jesus responds with mercy and practical help. That same compassion is meant to be communicable. We’re invited to notice the need on our street, in our family, and at work, and to use what we already have—time, words, skills, and resources—to become living signs of God’s kindness. If you’re longing for a fresh start or a renewed calling to serve, this one’s for you.
