MOVIE MIKE'S MOVIE PODCAST - How Director Lee Kirk Made a Green Day Comedy ‘Nimrods’ + Movie Review: Super Troopers 3 or One Night Only Trailer Park: Jumanji: Open World

Mike talks to director Lee Kirk about his new Green Day comedy, Nimrods, which follows a group of teenagers who road-trip to Los Angeles for the chance to open for their heroes, Green Day, on New Year’s Eve. Lee shares how he first connected with Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, the real-life band stories that inspired the movie, and what it was like directing a cast that includes Green Day playing themselves, Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace and Lee’s wife, Jenna Fischer. In the Movie Review, Mike talks about Super Troopers 3. The troopers try to bring down a new drug ring, while Farva's wildly over-the-top engagement to Thorny's sister spirals into chaos. Mike talks about why he thinks this proves comedy movies are dead, why Broken Lizard's comedy has aged poorly and what movie they should have made instead of this one. In the Trailer Park, Mike talks about Jumanji: Open World where the in-game avatars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan enter reality stuck in malfunctioning "demo mode," forcing real-world humans to step inside the game to fix it. Mike shares why people are outraged at Sony and the Rock’s Top 10 highest grossing movies.  Get tickets to see NIMRODS in theaters August 14th!   New Episodes Every Monday!
