Moyane files application to appeal North Gauteng High Court ruling

from AM Live on SAfm · host SABC News and Current Affairs

SAfm — The legal representative of former SARS Commissioner Tom Moyane says their legal battle is important in order to clear up issues around the challenges against the president's powers to fire SARS bosses. Moyane filed an application at the Constitutional Court to appeal the High Court ruling this morning. This came a week after the North Gauteng High Court dismissed with costs Moyane's application to appeal his removal from office following a damning Nugent report. Judge Hans Fabricius said President Cyril Ramaphosa was within his rights to fire Moyane. However Moyane's lawyer Eric Mabuza felt that Fabricius made errors and committed mistakes when he delivered that judgement. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Moyane's lawyer Eric Mabuza.
