Mr President-Igbos Are Not Your Problem
from The Hyacinth NetWork Hosted by Hyacinth Ossai
Mr President: Igbos Are Not Your Problem In a nation struggling with insecurity, economic hardship, and deep political distrust, it is convenient to look for scapegoats. But let’s be clear: Igbos are not Nigeria’s problem. The real crisis is bad leadership, broken institutions, and a political culture that rewards incompetence over competence. From the Southeast to the North, from the creeks of the Niger Delta to the streets of Lagos, ordinary Nigerians are suffering the same pain—inflation, unemployment, insecurity, and hopelessness. Singling out one ethnic group only distracts from the failures of governance and the absence of accountability at the highest levels of power. This episode challenges the dangerous narrative of blame and division. It asks the President to focus on the real enemies of progress: corruption, poor policies, and a system that keeps millions poor while a few thrive. Nigeria does not need more ethnic dog whistles; it needs justice, fairness, and leadership that works for all. If we must fix this country, we must stop fighting ourselves and start demanding better from those in charge.
