في منتصف الأزمات الأمنية، الاجتماعية، والاقتصادية، لازالت بعض العوائل العربية تعتبر تدهور الصحة النفسية من أكبر العيوب. "مش مخلفين مجانين نحنا"؛ ألا وهي الجملة التي تستخدم للتعبير عن الرفض الكلّي للأمراض النفسية. قد تتفاجأوا بالعلم أنّ هذه الجملة لا تساهم في حل الأزمات النفسية، بل تزيدها سوءً. فيا أفلطون العقائد المتخلّفة، ما تتفلسف وترفض المساعدة لأنّوا اكتآبك غير اكتآب اللّي بعاني (بكل معنى الكلمة). "We did not conceive lunatics"; a sentence many still use to express their ultimate refusal of the concept of mental health. To your surprise, this sentence does not contribute to the wellbeing of those suffering with mental health issues, but instead it promotes its doom.
