MTP#33: Sports Doing Good

from Making The Play with Dave Briglio · host Making The Play Radio

This week I will be speaking with Sarbjit “Sab” Singh, Founder of Sports Doing Good, I’ve loved their mission to gather and promote the best stories in Sports – no statistics or highlight reels, just Sports Doing Good. Plan to tune in and look forward to remembering and getting back to Why We PLAY.https://www.spreaker.com/show/mtp-dave-briglioSports Doing Good, a property of The Kaur Group, is built on the idea of sports being fun, inspirational and being a tool for positive social change. The concept and practice of corporate social responsibility and social entrepreneurship are now rooted firmly in the mindset and actions of thousands of individuals, companies and organizations around the globe. Their website is part of a movement to both drive the growth of and highlight the good work already being done by those in and around sports.Their goal is to have Sports Doing Good be a portal housing original content and excerpts from and links to the increasing number of articles, websites, video, and other sources that showcase the good in sports and and its relation to social responsibility. They aim to celebrate those concepts, activities, events, and individuals by highlighting them for a wider audience. Much of the news today, whether sports related or not, is incredibly negative and increasingly polarized, biased, and quite annoying. At SDG, they are trying to refocus some of the discussion on the good related to the world of sports.About Sab: He was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Rockville Centre on Long Island, played soccer here and there (still does). He graduated with honors from Georgetown University with a BSBA in Finance and earned MBA and JD degrees from Emory University. Sab is a proud and active alum of all three institutions. He is an experienced business strategy and market research professional. He’s taught entrepreneurship and business planning in the sports management program at NYU’s Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management. And at St. John’s University he taught “Philosophy, Principles, and Organization of Sport Management”.In this episode, you’ll hear…•The need to bring sports, social responsibility and development together•The use of sports to improve our lives and the lives of individuals and communities worldwide.•Some amazing stories of sports organizations that are “Doing Good”
