In which a gentleman devoted himself to earnest inquiries at the heads of seven roads, only to find his careful investigations leave him no closer to a choice, and is persuaded by gentle persuasion to revisit a particular path dear to a solitary girl whose music had brought her solace. Journeying to a bustling town, he encounters a lost little girl named Polly, whose lively spirit and quaint storytelling soon dispel his ponderous musings and set them both adrift in a tender companionship amidst the hum of city life.
