Multiple agencies fight hay bale fire

Approximately 160 bales of hay went up in smoke July 3, after flames erupted on property near Sutherland Springs. The hay bales were located on private property on C.R. 333 off F.M. 539. The fire alarm was sounded at 3:51 p.m. that Friday, according to Fire Battalion Chief Matt Quigley of Wilson County District 1 Fire & Rescue. Within 10 minutes, the firefighters arrived on the scene. District 1 provided four brush trucks, an engine, a (water) tender, and two command vehicles.
